1. why do the door handles have key holes when there is no key?
2. is the 2.0i engine supposed to sound tickety..... i've had 2 people ask me today if it was a diesel :o
3. does the key fob have remote boot release that needs to be programmed in as mine has the button but it doesnt do anything
4. if i dont have the electrically folding mirrors option, how do the mirrors fold in? manually?? as i gave them a quick tug and they didnt budge

1, If your car or key batteries go flat you can open the door with the key. You can then pop the bonnet and jump the car.
2, Don't know. Do these have a DISA as they go tickety when old.
3, Don't know, do you have a spare key to try?
4, I stand beind the mirror and give it a shove with my thigh, back towards the window and slightly upwards.

1. The key is in the key fob - it comes apart.
2. Don't think mine sounds tickety, certainly doesn't sound like a diesel.
3. That only works if you have the comfort pack
4. They don't, do they? I've tried too and they didn't move.

cheers guys

1. didnt realise the key was in the fob
2. apparently mine does.... im not overly worried as its under warranty and doesnt really bother me. although the guy who mentioned it said, if he bought a new car, he wouldnt expect it to sound like that lol
3. gotcha, so not one of those things you can program into your fob/ car then
4. no im guessing they dont fold in then

The 'tickety' noise you mention is the direct injection noise these new 20i/28i four pots make. Its audible slightly on my 6 pot but the new 4pot injectors seem particularly loud. I noted it when driving a 328i demo car and asked the dealer about it, completely normal, whether its acceptable is a different thing. Your mirrors will fold in manually, just push them harder.

3. Try holding the open boot button for a second or two when the car is unlocked. Mine unlatches the boot (doesn't swing open) and I don't have Comfort Pack

The engine does make a tick noise. Ours isn't very loud though.

Try pressing the boot release button with the car unlocked.

Mirrors fold in the same way they did on our other BMWs and the MINI. You push them in. On the Z4 the mirrors don't stick out very far. The one time I folded in the mirrors some idiot keyed the roof. -- I don't think I'll be folding them in again.

RTFM :)

cheers guys

i have a learnt a bit more about the car today lol.... saves me finding out for myself

and yeah i can understand that you need to make sure the car doesnt attract too much attention when you arent next to it

Yeah, bit weird that you need to have the car unlocked to use the boot release button. You don't need to do this on my Audi.

Glad I decided to keep my 2.5i 6 cylinder than trade it in for a new 2.0d :P

:fuelfire:

maybe thats why its making a ticking noise..... its a diesel and i keep putting petrol in it :D :P

Just had a listen to mine and I see what you mean about the ticking noise. It does do it but I don't think it's as bad as a diesel!

well i guess its because most people expect bmws to be quiet and refined when it comes to their petrol engines..... i believe because it is a relatively new engine range, maybe they are still developing it.... well i believe it to be new
