 If the culprit is paying, why not get a price for the wheel and a new (unpainted) wing from BMW, you can always get a bodyshop to spray the wing and fit it yourself

Ive had my front end scraped twice. I always reverse into parking spots (military thing) and people who just drive in seam to hit the front as the reverse out of a spot. I think they dont realise how long the front is. I hate them all so lazy just reverse in.

Lol I did 10 years in the Army and also always reverse park everywhere :) :driving:

We all must do it haha

Well I've had a argument with the father, he refused to say 1 alloy is £511 without the tyre & said the wing is outrageous at £251 They have refused to pay up or give me their insurance details! :headbang:

I've now reported the incident to the police & my insurance, I'm letting them fight it out, lucky I have his address :x

He didn't like the estimate of £1030 & thats @ mates rates... Going to end up costing shed loads more via insurance!

1 x Gen 313 Performance alloy wheel
1 x 19' tyre/valve/bal
1 x OEM wing
1 x 3.0i Badge
1 x Paint/Labour/Fit

Didn't realise your 313's were oem! What a moron, moaning over the price

Unfortunately people like that think their one eyed alcoholic jobless mate does just as good a job as a proper bodyshop. I bet he thought it was going to cost £200 max.

Let's hope police do something with it - unfortunately I have a feeling when the boy pleb does it again, neither will own up!

Id be so furious. Did you manage to stay calm at least haha?

I did say it ain't a flipping (not the word I actually used) Fiesta, what did you expect, he then shut the door in my face! So NO I didn't keep calm in the end! The Police don't appear to be interested as they said it was a matter for the insurance companies.

I'm in the waiting game now....

I thoroughly disagree with the police. Damage has been caused and the driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene or attempt to leave details. I also presume they failed to report it at all, let alone within 24 hours. If it were me I would be asking to speak to someone in their traffic/roads policing team and ask them to justify why they think this should not be pursued. Failing that start taking it up the chain. I am surprised the insurers are not interested in this angle unless the other party has folded and admitted fault.

Kids on scooters don't tend to have any insurance so not a lot the police can do. Presume they will class as a civil matter.

Just of of interest; how easy is it to replace a wing? It it worth paying someone to replace it or is it an easy DIY replacement?

I'm a practical sort of person and not afraid of getting my hands dirty, I have a vast tool kit in my garage too! :D

I've fitted my aero kit, cut and shut my headlights & fitted sport seats so I'm sure I could replace a wing? Yes?

Easy enough job, I did mine. More than willing to lend a hand if you do go down that route.

Then there are a multitude of offences committed, one being driving without insurance which is a £300 fixed penalty with 6 points or an unlimited fine and disqualification if taken to court. The vehicle can also be seized (and should be in my mind).

Failing to stop at the scene and/or report an accident is a criminal matter - with the option for a custodial sentence - so if they are not pursuing it, they should be.

Sorry to hear of the damage, this should be looked into by the Police as effectively it was a hit and run. If you don't get any joy at PC level then you need to take your enquiries higher and if necessary threaten publicity, then they'll start listening.

On a different tack I had an idiot transit driver reverse into me while I was in a car park space. It took a year of wrangling to get the damage sorted as the twat said that I hit him writing off his van and causing him such bad whiplash that he was unable to work.

I had a 10 x 3cm dent on my passenger door where he reversed across the car park into me and yet the van was written off and he got his medical damages as well.

Instead of prosecuting this idiot for fraud the insurers insisted it go 50/50 otherwise they wouldn't repair the damage to my car.
No wonder we pay so much for premiums if we have equally retarded idiots running the insurance companies.
