Some more advice needed.

Hi all,

I have recently noticed that my e86 makes a rattling type noise at circa 3000 revs when accelerating, there's no loss of power. I have searched the issue both on this forum and others with no conclusive answer, I know that the grey top n52's can tend to rattle on idle, but mine is a black top and only rattles around the 3k mark. I know that the clutch is on the way out, could this be related?

The N52K is turbine smooth on the go, so I would be very surprised if the rattling had anything to do with the engine. It could be a rattly exhaust hanger or joint.
 
Could be one of the heat shields rattling.

Try taking it to 3000 revs when it's parked and see if there's still a rattle (above the noise of the clutch rattle).

If it's happening under braking check the splash guard aluminium things on the front wheels.
