Some mods to my Z4

Hi,

As a Newbie there are some things I wanted to change on my Z4. Here are some pics of my initial mods. Quality isn't great as taken from iPhone camera but you get the idea.

How I bought it

Stereo replaced with a Pioneer 5200BT

Falken 452's delivered so off came the Bridgestone runflats and OEM alloys (noticed a big difference already in smoothness & steering seems a lot lighter)

New tyres fitted to AC Schnizter Type 3 Race reps (not everyone's cup of tea and a bit 'old skool' but I like them). Wanted 19s but had to settle for 18s in the end due to price mainly. Now need centre caps to finish them off.

And I've just added to carbon look badges. :P

Wheels look good. Not disimilar to the 108's in being 5 spoke and open design

Sorry, but the stereo just doesn't work for me

Only when it's open for dialling numbers etc. You can control the most used features like CD/Radio with it closed and then you have you central vents too.

The other 4 -6 vents in the small cabin do a good enough job of keeping it hot or cold anyway.

If you have a BMW bluetooth system fitted from build and you wanted to change to a stereo such as this would the blue tooth still work (amd from the steering wheel controls)?.
I think the stereo would match in better if the plastic surrond was colour matched black. match the vents better as well

Yeah to be honest the grey takes getting used to but looks a bit darker than that in the flesh. The non OEM surrounds are black but tried one and the fit is all gappy and the frame bends easily.

As for the Bluetooth I really don't know. I don't have steering controls and didn't have BT before this stereo so my phone runs straight through the Pioneer. I'm sure a quick email to BMW or pioneer would answer that though.

Happy to try and answer other questions you might have.

Love the wheels  but not the sterio, good to see you have not put one of them dam stubbys on :poke: :fuelfire:

Like the Wheels,
Have you thought about Dropping it, maybe get it closer to the look you wanted with the 19's

i like the wheels... and the stereo looks cool.... but is probably better suited on a car where the stereo is lower down then on the Z4.

Keep up the good work

I dont see why people are so negative about the stereo, the first thing I am doing to mine is chucking the standard stereo, which is quite frankly rubbish. My old Honda had a better stereo system and thats not even a prestige car, the BMW one is a real let down.

The wheels look great as well!

I don't think the comments have anything to do with the quality of the audio. I'm sure it's much better than a base stock head unit. I think they relate to the fact it looks out of place in that colour and position and on a grey blanking plate and in a Zed interior.

If you post on boards you get people's opinions that you choose to accept or ignore, but if the poster is happy then that's great.

I've always been unsure on these wheels: I love the spokes/centre part, but the outer rim with the bolts always looks a bit fussy/busy to me. But no denying they suit the car very well

Good to hear different opinions peeps.

Have considered lowering it but will have to wait for more funds.

Definitely prefer the look now to the standard spec.

Cheers :D
