Hi All

I've been told that one of my headlights is vry bright so I reckon it must need aligned. How do I do this? Is it a specialist job?

I only got my car in June - new - so i'm a bit miffed. Also I wondered why people randomly flashed their lights at me !

Also I'm headed to Monaco for the GP in May - how do i set the lights to left hand drive configuration?

Cheers !

PS Anyone fancy a 1000 jaunt from Zeebrugge, through Germany (der Autobahn!), into Switzerland and the Stelvio Pass then onto Monaco through Italy? Also it's back via the Nurburgring so plenty to see and do !

If you look at my post half way down you will see this is covered under warranty if car is less than 12 months old

Since you have a Z4M, you can also do it yourself (adjust up and down). There is a small screw on the lower backside of each Xenon assembly that can be rotated to adjust beam height. There is a pic of the screw floating around here somewhere,,,,I will try to find it.

If you are unable to get the dealer to do this (they should do it for free as mentioned). The inner set-screw should adjust up/down with the outer set-screw adjusting the left/right. I have not verified this myself, so set up a line on a blank wall with markers to verify ajustments. You must have the lights on during adjustment to compensate for the auto-leveling :)

Pics of left side headlight unit looking from front. There are two set-screws, the inner set-screw should be the up/down adjust (adjust slowly to prevent having the set-screw come completely out, most take less than a quarter turn)

Pic taken from left side of car to give a better pic of the inner set-screw. It does sit down lower than the outer one.

Once again, have your dealer do this adjustment if possible. I have not verified this data myself 8)

Thanks all. I'll take it to the stealer and see what they say. Seeing as I have already called BMW UK about them and won compensation, i'm not too hopeful that they will help but we will see.

Any Ideas on the converting the lights for use in Europe question?
