It could be a lot worse! At least they didnt damage the car!!
If people kept parking outside my house (even though they are entitled too) I would probably do something similar tbh.

He pays his car tax, so can park anywhere he likes. If you buy a house without a drive or a designated, reserved parking space, that's your own fault IMO
If you don't like people parking in front of your house legally, then either move house or ask the council to paint some reserved boxes... don't go egging, keying, denting peoples pride and joys.
I think the guy who's throwing the eggs is the one taking the p*ss - what's wrong with a polite note under the wiper arm to explain his fustrations?
Go rent a skip for a week and leave it in your old space, full of rotten eggs

guys thanks for the support. i dont really know what to say - i am genuiely a lot less stressed out and anxious as i come back from work now. I was getting into quite a flap in the expectation of finding my car egged or even worse. i am very much in the camp of i pay road tax and am respectful so as not to park (even if i am legally entitled to) in a completely inconsiderate position. Even though i drive what the vandal may have percieved to be some incredibly flash car - i worked very very hard for the car, and i continue to do so everyday to pay the upkeep on it. Pi$$ed off that someone thinks it is accpetable to damage someone property on a daily basis because they dont agree with it. To be honest as i get older i grow increasingly disillusioned with the notion of people having principles and the idea that those who behaviour in a polite and courteous manner are in the majority - because that is not the case. the feedback and replies on the forum i have largely found supportive. i have taken the comments about parking in someones road etc into consideration, but must stress the road was very free and spacious. i was not parking right at the limit of someones drive or blocking them in at all.
what have i learnt? some people are fcuking arseholes and i am £300 lighter for my quarterly ticket. i know revenge is an unattractive quality but the cowardice of the actions and my inability to confront the villan has really fcuked me off. As has the fact that i feel they won.

The law is there for a reason, it's not illegal to park outside someone's house, it is illegal to vandalise a car.
The real criminal of this story is the car park owner charging £300per quarter to park for a train which is also expensive, cramped, late.. etc etc.
I think for me though the £300pq is worth the piece of mind, because let's face it, this country is full of arseholes willing to damage someone else's pride and joy.
On a slightly different note, is there any chance that one day, on the way to parking up, you (accidentally) cut up or annoyed someone who lives on the same street? I think that's a bit more likely to provoke this reaction if, as you say, you park in front of different houses most days, so as to not regularly annoy one household.
