Hi guys - been a long time user of the forum, have found all the hints, tips and thoughts from fellow Z4 enthusiasts really interesting and helpful. Had my car for 6 months now and absoutely love it!
However.....I work in the big smoke and get a train in everyday from where i live St.Albans. This involves me driving to the station and parking my car - however after steadily increasing parking fees, reaching a peak of an annual parking permit of £1000, i decided enough and hunted around for some cheeky non permit roads to park at near the station. Bit of a result after having a drive around one sunday and found a nice residential area - only a 5 minute walk for the station that seemed an ideal spot for the Z. 5 months passed and not a problem, the road is obviously know to a select band of train commmuters too, but not too many. So the road is a bit busier than it normally would be, but all of us parking in street are considerate to all the residents and we (well I certainly) have never blocked or parked too near a driveway, etc.
However - lately some **** has taken to egging my car. Its happened for a week now and it is driving me mad, i am having dreams of finding the culprit and killing them. Thankfully the criminal has so far refrained from hitting the roof and has limited it to one egg on the drivers side of the windshield. But this is really making me hopping mad, after getting back from a pretty long day at work to find your pride and joy coveredin egg is blood boiling.
thing is what can i do about it? the perpetrator is in my mind def a resident who is either a) annoyed that i am parking in their street or b) jealous of the car.
thing is that while i am proud of my Z4, its no ferrari and the evny value for a car like that, well you would really expect too much abuse for it. However it does seem that my car is the only one being egged out of all the "commuter cars" parked in the street. Secondly if it is a resident - really in my mind there is no excuse for their actions. Its a public street, and i park in a perfectly safe and considerate manner. They may not like me parking there but I pay my road tax so what ccan they moan about?
regardless of the motivation - what the hell can i do ? no point telling the police as i am sure they will tell me sod off. Out of principle I am not prepared to stop parking there, as it would be to give into bullying. the only option that is in my mind is the stupid idea of hiding nearby in the hope of catching the f**ker and battering them. should i risk them sticking with eggs and hope that it does progress to something far worse like keying or cutting the hood?
i know it might sound petty but damit, i worked hard for the car and for somewhere to happily damage it, and hide in secrecy makes me mad.
any advice guys???
