Solved - Help on Carly error code 000018 - heater core

Hi all,

Anyone have any idea what I need to replace on my e85 with the following error code, suggests something to do with a heating water valve? Drivers side and central blow hot but passenger vent blows cold so I am guessing this could be related?

Further research it looks to be the heater control valve. Does anyone know if this can be changed on its own or does the heater core need to be changed also and dash out sort of job?

Anyone done this job with any advice?
 
Never come up before as far as I can recall. Would be great if you could update us all if you manage to resolve.
 
Upon further diagnostics in ISTA-D it looks to be the auxiliary coolant pump that has failed, this supplies coolant to the heater core for the heating and climate control. I was aware of this on the z4 m and facelift si models but can’t seem to find the location on my car, any ideas where this is located anyone?
 
For anyone that has this error if have now fixed the problem and the error code has gone away. The error is down to the secondary air pump relay K6304a as in real oem, this is the salmon pink relay behind the fuse box, pic attached. Cold air in passenger vent was down to airlock in the heater core, I flushed the heater core and ran new anti freeze into it and now very hot on all :thumbsup:

Thanks for updating! So the error was due to secondary air pump??? I thought that was activated during cold start to blow additional air into exhaust to cheat emissions :?

I wonder how the heater core suddenly gets an air lock in it. Had you run low on coolant previously?
 
Well was down to the relay, or lack or relay, there was not one there, can only assume previous owner took it out for some reason but when I put in in the error cleared. Not even sure where or what the secondary air pump is, do you know where it is located?
For the coolant I did a radiator change 6
Months ago and was not right since on the passenger vent so decided to just blow through the matrix to see if it was clogged, was clear so can only assume there was an air lock as it now red hot on both side vents
