[SOLVED] 2012 35IS with SOS Failure Warning

Hello all. I'm a new owner and have been diving down a rabbit hole regarding coding and removing an SOS Failure warning. Since the system isn't functional anymore, there isn't really any reason to keep it available and I don't want to replace the battery just to clear the warning. Problem is, the dealer wants $240 to code the warning our. The local premium independent shop said they won't (can't) do it... which really makes me wonder about them. I am considering dipping my toe into this myself to remove it but the videos I've seen have used a laptop, which appears less user friendly than the phone options.

My question for the group is, is this a warning that can be removed in an app based utility (Carly or Bimmercode)? If so, is it on the front menu or in expert menus? If it is buried in the expert menus, which lines do I need to disable to make the warning go away?

The warning didn't come in this morning on my way to work but that's the first time I've started the car and not gotten the warning. I have no doubt it will come back and the repeated chiming is annoying. I just want to make it go away.

Thanks,
Jeff

Bimmergeeks Protool can do it as it can edit the vehicle order in the relevant sub systems

Is there someplace that has clear instructions for this specific issue or is it best to adapt the PC based tutorial?

I don’t have an android device. Will Bimmercode do it? Works with Apple. Do you know which lines to change? My scan tool arrives tomorrow. If nothing else, I’ll be able to update some other convenience items so it won’t be a waste.

I’m not sure that Carly or BimmerCode do VO edits..

Just to follow up (because I know how annoying it is for someone to ask for help and then not share the answer...) I was able to figure this out... I think. Just coding it out in KOMBI using Protool did not work. The warning was coming from a different module (FBI). After trying and failing with the coding in KOMBI, I went back in and opened the FBI module. This is where all of the ecall capability is located on my car (build date 1/2012). I disabled every feature associated with emergency call except for things like tire size and type of fuel. I wrote that to the car, cleared errors, and went for a drive. It wasn't a long drive but previously, the fault came in nearly instantly. After about 10 minutes every still showed green! Hopefully this will help someone. I do have CIC with NAV... I have not checked to see if I lost GPS position for navigation yet because I also have a Carplay adapter and generally use that for directions. Stereo and Bluetooth work. Basically all I lost was the Ecall function (car has the 4G module upgrade so technically I think I could still use it if I wanted to) and the annoying warning.
