As ive just sold mine and want another one im afraid i have to agree with guy above, the people asking decent money just arent getting it, i love these cars, but asking over 10k for one unless it has about 40k miles on isnt going to work (not talking about this thread)
the only ones that actually do seem to sell all actually change hands for 8.5 or below, a car dealer friend of mine wont even take them unless dirt cheap as he struggles to sell, not sure why as fantastic cars, but i just guess people arent willing to pay over 10 grand for a thirsty 10 year old 2 seater right now

My thoughts exactly. They are very nice but even with the relatively bomb proof engines these are old cars with increasingly high miles. There is a very limited market for them in terms of buyers and I'm very conscious of paying 9k+ for a car that is only worth 6k+ to anyone else.

I'd pay 9k-9.5k at a garage with a warranty with 60-75k. Private I wouldn't budge much above 8k for an 07/08 plate

Its very much a luxury item and at present I'm driving a very nice 50mpg car. Its just a desire to own one of these not a necessity. I think there's a bubble on the pricing for them and it's just a matter of time until the 15+ on the trader don't sell for 6 months and everyone will adjust pricing accordingly. I can wait.

Thanks
Steven

Just a heads up on this comment mines under 9k so I'm not asking for over 10.

Got to say, the comments above on pricing is a bit ridiculous...have you not paid any attention to the sports car market over the last 5 years? How much are 996 GT3's, M3 CSL's, Audi RS4's selling for today....and what should their book price be...?

Although on a more humble scale, the Z4C doesn't really conform to standard book pricing due to it's limited production number...£9k for a limited run 6 cylinder manual sports car is pretty cheap motoring.

Stick to your guns, I'm sure the right buyer will come for this car!

Hello,

I haven't paid any attention. I've driven dull cars for a long time :-) I've no idea but having bought cars for 15 years I tend to go by the industry standard book price as do the insurance companies when I wrote a car off a few years ago.

I don't want this to be a downer on the guys sale. Its a lovely car. Just giving my thoughts as a normal working man who's looking to pick a nice new car up.

Thanks
Steven

Reality is, you'll be waiting a long time to find a £6k coupe, and for a car that looks in as good nick as this it is worth every penny of the asking price...just genuinely surprised that it isn't sold yet???

Cheers buddy. I've honesty I've never seen any car of any type sold privately at book price. That's a price for a dealer to make a tidy profit on. I'm waiting out. I'm not going to sell it for less than market which is where it's at. Cheers for the compliments.

OP, sorry to see the negative feedback and I hope you manage to find the right buyer!

Most guides are pretty irrelevant anyway, but especially for cars like this. The best guide is what they are advertised for and the cheapest Coupe on AutoTrader right now is £6,450 with a trader that has done 152,000 miles!

If anyone finds a Coupe with 70K miles for £6,000 it's going to be a Cat C (or maybe D) - I paid a fair bit more than that for mine in May this year!

Cheers buddy. From reading the negative two posters I think for some reason They think I have it up for over 10k and haven't actually read the post. For the miles and spec I'm cheaper than any other private sale on auto trader. Way less than a dealer.

To be fair to the two "negative" post they are talking in general ,not about this specific car.

But......

As also said by others the book price on these has to be ignored, and you have to go with the market. Things have changed from this time last year, it is a lot slower. ///M values have taken a hit as well, maybe Brexit has something to do with it. Coming to the end of summer also has an effect, although less with a coupe.

Regarding insurance write off, again if this happened to me it would be providing the insurance company with AT, PH and forum adverts showing what my car is selling for.

Just to be clear. My post isn't negative about the car. It's a great example, I was just relaying my thoughts as a potential buyer.

Its just my opinion from a lifetime of buying other cars :)

Good luck with the sale I'm sure someone will make you a great offer.

Just IMO I find it strange how car buying is so money driven, that someone will reject a car they want if they think it's even a bit overpriced, not suggesting this one is I might add, a rare car with this spec on not crazy miles, if you want one just buy it, the hell with what anyone else thinks, does a grand or half that make that much difference? The amount of fuel you put in, scuffs scrapes etc, kerbing the wheels, that need sorting and hav'nt been factored in at the start can wipe out a good deal over the owners time with it, so it all equals out in the end.

I'd have bought this like a shot if I wanted a coupe.

do any of you actually read the comments or just skim them, how can my comments be negative, i love these cars, also i quite clearly said im not talking about your car, the reason it hasnt sold is its too expemsive, its not bl00dy rocket science, reduce the price it sells, my family have been car dealers for many years (not me in any way shape or form) this car will sell when you reduce the price, lovely car in every way, just the market isnt quite what some of you dreamers actually think it is, there are tons of z4cs on ebay and autotrader, dont go by the asking price people, go by what it actually sells for

Ones with more miles and less spec have sold very recently on here for more money. £8900 is very fair.

i actually agree, i think it isnt over the top money, i just think if you really want to sell it (if your in no rush cool) then you will struggle to get over 8k, this is my experience having spoke to dealers in Bristol, im sure the right person might come along and give what you want and i honestly hope they do, but dont hold your breath

similar miles, 8 grand, comes with a warranty:

But is an auto box which would likely be more difficult to sell.

To the OP - is it a 2006 car as per advert, or 2007 as per sig?

Lovely to hear from you (again)!

Is there a reason why with all of your family's experience in the trade you need to "spoke to dealers in Bristol", or does that mean you haven't got a clue yourself perhaps??

My OH is a Scouser and introduced me to a lovely term - Gob-Sh*te - I'm sure Wiki has a definition!
