Hi all,

Just thought I’d share some feedback on the sale of my Z4.
http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26783

I had it for just over 3 years and used it mainly for work commuting around for my sales job across the south east. I decided to price it quite low at £7,990 below any others on the market to move it quickly as I already had another car. It was a nicely spec'd 2006 2.0 with 73,000 miles on the clock and FSH by BMW, I had had it since nearly new when it had 7k on the clock.

I advertised it here, on piston heads and ebay first and got no responses. I then put it on Autotrader and then enquiries poured in - with a lot from Malta wanting to export the car, apparently a very common thing now since the government there relaxed import regs so I’ve been told. However speed was of the essence so to the UK market and a dealer ended up buying it from me for £7,700 and they now have it on their forecourt. Once on Autotrader I sold it in 3 days with cash in my bank. Put it up Friday night, took calls on Saturday, viewings on Sunday, sold on Monday. By pricing it slightly below the others I think I saved myself a lot of hassle. Depreciation and service costs probably came in at about £3,500 a year, but after my car allowance from work that was written off. All in all a very enjoyable way to cover 66,000 miles!

Now I have a new motorway crusher in the shape of a brilliantly spec’d 120d msport. The plan now is to get a weekend toy, the GF wants me to get a Z4M roadster and I’m tempted by an Elise or an older 911. We’ll have to wait and see what comes up!

But for now here is the new one :driving:

That 2L 4 pot oil burner is an absolute marvel 168 Bhp right? Common rail flexibility. There is also a twin turbo version with 201 Bhp

This is the later single turbo with 177bhp and yes it is amazing for a diesel! You can remap this engine to 220bhp as well :o

I like it too, although I do prefer the 5-dr 1-series in terms of looks if I'm honest. A mate I bike with drives a 118d MSport and even that's rapid and very nicely equipped inside and out.

I never got used to that even at over 6' tall, I am only just sticking out above the side windows.

Other then that, good mileage eater.

Sorry, I think the 1 series in general and the coupe especially is challenging at best to look at.BUT, they are plentiful and cheap second hand and have the beemer qualities everyone likes.A good mile muncher for sure, and leaves you with a tempting choice for a weekend toy. Surely a Z4MR is the way to go............................. :D

Oooo... older 911! Which were you thinking? The 3.2 is meant to be very easy to live with (comparitively speaking). The 964 has more comfort and slightly better tech, but is engine for a lot of maintenance, so can be expensive to run. The 993 is an evolution of the 964. Prices are on the up for the 3.2 and 964 so would act soon  The NA widebodys, if you can find a good one, are the cars to have... 3.2 SSE FTW

Whatever you get I hope to see a posting in Other Marques when it arrives

Great minds! I have just changed my Z4 for a 1 coupe and I am really impressed. Lovely cars! You have great taste :D

My wife has a 120D that I drive quite alot and its fast for a desiel but I don't like the gearing in it. Travelling along at 30 in the 1 u put it in 4th and it snuggles if u need to accelerate. In my Z4C 3.0si u can drive in 5th and it will still pull good at 30.
