This is a standard BMW part removed from my 2004 3.0L Z4.
The top has been cut off, insides gutted, and straight through pipes welded inside. The welds were then wrapped in exhaust wrap to ensure a good seal. It was then filled with the sound deadening from 2 BMW backboxes to reduce drone. Then the top welded back on. This a LOUD exhaust!!
It has been designed for a quad system but could be used as single exit if you added a "r" shaped piece of pipe to the exposed 3rd exit. See pics. There are a few square holes in the top which I didn't get round to filling wih new metal but as there's no fumes in the box anyway and they can't be seen when fitted, it makes no difference.
Comes with standard chrome tip covers and 2 sets of MM Tips (big ones) 2 of which have been designed to replace the standard chrome covers (bolt on) and the other 2 are designed to be welded on. (I was going to use these for my quad)
Also included is a length of flexible exhaust pipe which can be used to join the backbox to your existing exhaust system. You will need to cut off the standard backbox to fit this one.
The reason I made the exhaust this way instead of just fitting straight through pipes is because this should pass an MOT whereas straight through pipes will probably not. I believe you must have a backbox fitted for MOT purposes.
It could do with being painted in high temp paint really but I never got round to it.
£150 COLLECTED ONLY (Brentwood)
I have a short video which gives a rough idea of sound but is a lot louder in real life!! It's LOUD and it sounds great.
I'll get the clip up as soon as I can get it to work! It's only a stationary revving vid, no driving sound I'm afraid and I don't have the Zed anymore so that's it.
I'm guessing it sounds the same as any other straight through exhaust but with the added bonus of MOT friendly!! And a choice of tips!!
Please PM with any interest.
Thanks
Dean
