**SOLD** BMW Z4M Coupe, Midnight, Very high spec

Almost identical to mine - price seamed on the cheap side. The new owner got a bargain!!
Beautiful example!!!

It was a fair price, so many people are overpaying and are going to get stung when they sell, the only "classics" are going to have really low miles and one/low owner in exceptional condition.
The 60+ miles are not selling privately for £13,000+ in this "boom" climate, a dealer will nail people when they have more trouble selling later.
Some of the cars that have been advertised at a high price look in average/good condition, not great, I would pay more for a great one and not bother with the rest unless you want to keep it for a few years selling at a low price, the high mileage ones have been retailing at £10-11k!

Congratulations to the new owner (if on here :) ). I was interested and made contact but blimey that was a quick sale!

I totally agree!!

It'll be very interesting to see where the prices go this winter and next winter.

!

Much truth in your thoughts but with only around 1000 of all ZM s exactly how many would you expect to fall into the "really low miles/one owner" category  10% possibly :? maybe 5% ?
The problem is the same as with any car , if you buy from a high end dealer at high end price then come time to sell you'l be lucky to be up on the deal
Many who bought 2/3 years ago may see a small return on a private sale
I think its safe to say there is always going to be a demand for well looked after examples at whatever mileage is on the clock but what will remain a guessing game is what a 56 M roady with 5 owners, service history & 100k on the clock will fetch privately in a few years time ?
There has been mention recently of a aircooled 911 type demand brewing for ZMs but that in reality has taken 20/25 years so owners looking for that could be in for a long wait

Market demand is still high for these cars and I reckon Ed could have got a bit more.

What are you expecting to happen in winter?

Close to giving up for a while to be honest :)
Ed kindly sent a few more pics but by the time I got to view and respond the next day it had already gone.
It'll be buy one get one free by November? :P

It sure is a strange market. I see this car for sale with 50-odd k miles in seemingly very good condition, and see others with many more miles and older trying to sell for similar money :?

With current prices this was a bargain and listing at £17,500 wouldn't have been unreasonable or unachievable. To sell as quickly as it did just shows how keenly it was priced.

But, just going back 2 years a car with 50k mileage would have been listed at £15k, now we are at a stage where an extra £1.5k is seen as a very good price!

There are a lot of predictions about prices and the future market. These are desirable and relatively exclusive cars. They offer an experience not available in new sports coupes and are a design classic. Obviously I have a vested interest in stating that prices will stay high, but I have no intention of selling my Z for a long long time, so I really don't care either way.

I don't imagine that they will follow the CSL or E30 M3 into stratospheric price hikes, but for me, with £25k to spend I'd still pick the Z. There will be other people out there like me. Some might want the E9x M3, but to me it doesn't appeal, neither does a used 911. I don't think people are necessarily paying Sytner's prices in hope of having made a canny investment, but more because they want something a bit different, with a characterful and legendary engine and for the average Joe, just the right amount of driver involvement / feedback.

The M coupe will always be an exotic car, and that will support prices of course. But it's interesting to see that some are simply not selling at the asking price- if it's worth more to the seller then they aren't obliged to drop but no- one is obliged to buy either.

I've given this a lot of thought as I'm hoping that later this year I'll finally be In a Position to buy. All of the reviews comparing the Z4MC and the 3.0 coupe seem to suggest that for 10k less new, the 3.0 is not a markedly less impressive car. I'm sure M owners will debate that but 3.0 coupes seem to still be about £6k+ Less than comparable Ms in age and mileage. On that basis The 3.0 coupes look like great value buys, and I think that's the direction I will go. I'm not a track driver and I'm not bothered about any cachet the letter 'M' holds.

Having said that, if I saw a Bargain M at the right time, than YOINK!

Either way I hope people fare well,if they are looking for a year or 2 car they will almost certainly take a hit, lots of sports cars have seen an increase in prices but only a few of the z4m's will sustain this, unfortunately the ones that are hardly used :( and exceptional.
Cheap and available debt does not make a car more desirable, it makes them easier to buy coupled with supply & demand therefore higher prices, in saying that no one has taken the higher prices ones, they have not sold in......

The one that sold is a lovely car but will only depreciate over time, I am sure people are aware and are buying them to enjoy rather than be deluded that that will rocket in price in years to come

Which higher priced ones haven't sold?

Really not sure that good condition and cared for examples will only depreciate over time, performance oriented cars that are looked after will always command some kind of premium. Look at every iteration of the M3, Z3M's, M5's etc, good examples all command upwards of £10k.

As Stephen says, this car was underpriced so sold quickly... Thats the market for these cars at the moment..

What other sub 5 secs 0-60mph cars can you buy for less than £15000 ?

Prices will be stable for a while, they arent going to take off and go wild.... but so what, they arent going to tumble either..

You can pretty much buy a M coupe, use it as a weekender or daily and as long as you keep the mileage and history decent you will get a good % return when you come to sell..

Doesn't seem like that long ago when the M to Si price ratio (Coupe) was very close.
The Si Coupe is a very good car having owned one before the M. Plenty of torque in the range used mostly day to day and sounds great too.

whether or not the roadster M prices will calm down and go back to around 12k.....

First thing to happen if labour wins the elections, prices will plummet :D
