HI All,

Sadly (especially for my wife) the Z is up for sale. I've thoroughly enjoyed this car, especially in recent weeks with the decent weather here down South, but with limited use and a feeling that the car is just "not me", I have decided to part company.

I have posted full details below, with a long description of what is (and isn't) great about this car. It's a fantastic, reliable car on which I have spent a large amount of time upgrading the important mechanical bits. I apologise for the photos, I only have an old iPhone so I have done what I can, but you all know what a Z looks like so here we go...

Wiper blades at 93k :P

The car is in very good condition, the black paintwork is dent and rust-free (as to be expected) and polishes up lovely all round. The seats have been treated and refurbished recently and look as-new, with a lovely new leather smell and vivid red colour- they really stand out. The seat heating and electric adjustments all work as intended.

The suspension has been upgraded with Eibach rear springs, which have lowered the rear end nicely. I will also include the corresponding Eibach front springs, which I have never fitted as I was happy with the current ride height at the front. The FCA and RTA bushes have been replaced with Powerflex bushes and the car was fully aligned immediately afterwards, and drives and stops in a straight line.

I regularly check the roof drainage, but the car is kept under cover both day and night so very rarely sees any rain (the cover is included with the car). The PO had replaced some of the cooling system hoses, and the car runs perfectly up to temperature. The air conditioning works perfectly as well, I had this checked recently and it didn’t need topping up so all good on that front.

In January 2015 I completed a full Vanos seal replacement (upgrade). The Vanos unit was removed and all of the seals replaced using the well-publicised online guides. This upgrade transformed the car and was immediately noticeable, easily the best mod I have ever done as the results were so obvious.

I have also kept a close eye on the car and regularly check for errors using my software. I have also coded a number of options on the car including acoustic acknowledgement for remote locking (“chirp”), full remote roof opening and closure using remote key, auto lock doors and a few other bits and pieces. The car was error free last time I checked and this will be kept up to date.

The 5 speed auto gearbox is excellent, working through the gears in Normal, Sport and Manual modes with no issues whatsoever. I am regularly underneath the car checking things over and the gearbox oil lines and oil cooler are both looking perfect with no leaks or shoddy appearance. I have maintained the servicing myself for the past year, the car has had two full engine oil and filter changes in that time (January and June 2015), despite only covering 4,000 miles. I always service the car every six months regardless of mileage. The rocker cover gasket was replaced when the Vanos seals were done, and the engine has used no oil at all during the time I’ve had it.

There are a couple of minor points to consider. The wheels are 18” Style 108 split rims, and could do with some TLC with the common signs of wear and tear to the paint, but with no kerb damage this is all just superficial. The NSR is the worst affected, and is shown in the pictures. The front bumper is, as often with these cars, the first to feel any low kerbs and does have some scuffing across the length of the underneath, but it is fully aligned and there is no sign of any trauma at all. The undertray is fitted as expected and is all good.

Being an 11yo car there are clearly some very minor imperfections here and there, an experienced polisher/detailer would certainly get the paintwork looking better than I can, but the paintwork is very good and solid. Some minor scratches are apparent after washing, being a black car they are easy to spot but they polish out fine.

All of the above is reflected in the price. I would like to sell to an enthusiast, and can be available any day of the week for viewings and test drives (your insurance docs are required please...)

Car looks like a great buy for someone, i so wish i had those M Sport Seats.

GLWTS im sure this will sell pretty fast though :)

Gorgeous looking Zed. I'm in the market for an E85 but i'm looking for a manual! This won't be up for sale for long - bargain for someone!

Good luck

After a bit of fannying about, the Z left me today.

I did sell it on Tuesday using the famous "Best Offer" process on eBay but the seller pulled out on me a few hours before he was due to arrive. I managed to contact one of the other guys who had shown an interest and we did the deal today, although I ended up £100 down on the original price.

I will never use Best Offer again, utterly pointless even though eBay insist the buyer has a legally binding obligation to buy the car. I'm hoping he might offer me a few quid before I press the Unpaid Item button

Anyway, sad to see the Z go, but it wasn't my sort of car so live and learn. I wish everyone on this forum all the best...
