Also, even if there aren't documented changes between versions, that just means there aren't any new features or major bug fixes included. That does not mean there isn't any minor bug fixes and tweaks done to the software.

From what I understand from the guys on what was X5 world there are no changes, fixes or tweaks since V26 applicable to the current MkIV DVD system. It's in steady state. I would go with whatever they say as they have been reverse engineering the stuff for a decade and I along with many used to await the next version to have a play with, see what we could find different, etc.

According to BMW:

V27
E83 (X3) and E85 (Z4) with flap display:
Software fix for the flap issues (opening/closing)

V28
E83, E85, E86: Software fix for the following Display/Flap issues:

There are several changes for 26 to 29

The 4-1/91 (29.1) contain only mistake-adjustments in the telephone book-administration as well as bugfixes for USA / Japan-user."

"For US vehicles, BMW finally introduced a "search by part of name" feature. We can finally look up a point of interest by name. This is great for finding a particular restaurant or hotel. In the past, the only option was to search for a type of location within a specified distance. Then, you were forced to scroll through all of the options until you found the right one."

There we are then - live and learn. Some minor changes were in there, but I'm still not sure that anything after V28 is relevant to the Z4. Good find
