I can't check the software version on my 2010 sDrive 23i but I have checked it on the BMW website and it says its upto date - not sure if it is possible to check in the car on a 2010?

https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html

I have checked the Satnav and attached is the associated image - am I right in thinking this means is was updated in May last year?

Hmmm, can't remember which year you can do this from, do you have a USB port top right in the glovebox?
If you do then you may be able to update the maps. Current version of maps is 2021-1, so yours is well out of date.
I've made a video on this for my YouTube channel which I'm about to upload tomorrow morning where I run through every step.

OK great will take a look once you upload it and yes I do have a USB port In the glovebox.

To be honest having watched your other videos I will likely be fitting the carplay adapter from Aliexpress but in the interim just wanted to get everything upto date.

From memory if you look at your map screen there might be a circle at the bottom left corner with an i symbol with a tick through it. If it has that then you should be able to update the maps using the usb slot in the glove box (looking at your original image looks like the maps have never been updated).

Guys the previous posts have all been moved offline, not convinced that there was any genuine software being discussed there, unless someone wants to tell me that is incorrect.

Loss to the community here in the UK, as the US based forum (which is much bigger than this one) has this info all over it and BMW don't seem to care.
No skin off my nose, I'll keep my info to myself and never mention it again. Happy Zedding :driving:

Which forum do you mean? I genuinely like it here, but as I do live in America I think having access to the knowledge base there might be useful to me...
