SoftTop Cleaning and Protection

Several forum members have asked the question: 'How do I clean and protect my Soft Top"?

Here is a good video on how to clean and protect your Soft Top using a product called "RagTopp" .

I think the same techniques will apply if you use the BMW Soft top cleaner and protectant.

I have never used RagTopp but have heard very good things about this product.

Very good, I have the stuff ready to actually apply so came in handy.

Good to know that spillage is not as bad as I thought it would be, i.e. I got the impression that if it got on the paint / glass etc, that you would have a real problem removing it.

Good video - My preferred product too.

I'm with you on that pvr and have always sheeted the car before using. I'd prefer to avoid getting overspray than having to in any way clean it off.

I read somewhere that the best way to apply roof protection was to brush it in. The article said that spary on products were never as good as those that were brushed in.

I used Renovo Ultraproofer on my soft top. Took around an hour to apply since it is done with a 2" brush....then allow around 3-4 hours to dry.....but it's a great product and the water on my soft top would always bead like bodywork that's been waxed.

Some of the pros use a small brush and as you say brush the product in i normally use a paint brush and let it soak in.
