Soft Top

So the soft top is electronic, I am always worried about putting it down too often (3-4 times a day) because i am worried it will stop working one of these days.
How many times a day would you say its normal to open and close it before its too much and your risking failure.
 
I think the bigger risk is not using the top.... but I may be wrong...

mine is up/down/up/down/up/down most days when it's not raining....

The sat nav monitor always goes up and down when starting stopping the car... That doesnt seem to be a problem (for most!)

Agree - use it as much as you like, 14 secs down and 14 secs up a few times a day is hardly heavy use for a hydraulic motor. More important is to ensure the soft top drains are clear of debris so that the passenger side one (where the motor is) doesn't block, fill with water over time and by doing so kill the motor.

what do you mean by soft top drain? and how do you clean it?
 
benben, the drains are prone to blocking, especially if the car has lived outside and lots of crud / leaves have gotten in over time. They are pretty easy to clear and a worthwhile maintenance task - some use compressed air, or a coat hanger or something similar. I have a document that I downloaded from another site that shows where they are and how to get to them, and one way of clearing them. PM me an email address and I'll send it over to you.

Any questions, as Andy says you should have a search as there is loads of info in e85/86 problems :thumbsup:
