having recently bought my 1st roadster, how dissapointed am i to find the roof is apparently defective, has anyone else encountered this problem, the hydraulic pump doesn't appear to be workin at all, orange light comes on when pressed but nothing happens, until this happened the roof was operating fine, help anyone please

Oh dear - welcome first, but it seems likely your hydraulic motor has packed up.

Post up age and model but it's likely the motor rusted up and need the hood off to replace it. Tehre are guides on here to what's a fairly big/expensive job.

Hope you bought it under some sort of warranty.
 
hi thanks for the replies and the welcome, i've heard it is a problem, 04 2.2i roadster which i am really enjoyin, however this has put a downer on it, r we talkin crazy money?

Deetz......do a search on the topic. Lots about this including costs and some excellent writew up on how to do it yourself. :thumbsup:
 
Have you checked the two handles in the boot are in the correct position, if they are not this will cause your light to go orange but nothing happens, not even a sound from the motor.
It happened to me once after wifey had put a case in the boot and knocked one of them out of position, had me stumped for a few days.
 
cheers to everyone for the help,i'm a very happy and relieved man, one handle up and one down, roof now workin spot on, thanks again everyone (especially Nosa) maybe now i'll read my handbook properly!! CHEERS
