Here is my attempt at soft top side covers. Not willing to pay £200+ cost me about £30 in materials .
If I have any spelling mistakes I will apologise now to stop any of the usual comments.

Phew I wasn't sure whether you were being serious or not for a minute, didn't want to offend!  Like 2 burnt steaks sat on your car!
HNY!

If the OEM covers are ‘worth’ £200+, should be able to get at least £20 for these

Hi well done for trying to save money on two pieces of Plastic which are redicously over priced...Not sure how you made them or what mode or materials you used...!!!Practice makes Perfect...my friend runs an Upholstery Business,,,Was thinking of using similar black canvas as what convertible hood made from.will post pictures if try this.Deffinitely a market if some one can produce these soft top sides....

Some enterprising soul over in the US has replicated and commercialised production of the side covers and posted the results here on the forum somewhere.
I thought they looked ok but his asking price, which I think wasnt far off the oem price tempered enthusiasm somewhat I think.

Yeah they are rough but I give you credit for trying. Are they fiberglass?

It appears that you have painted them. If you rough them up with some 60 grit paper and smooth on some body putty (using a spreader designed to be used with body filler). then use a series of progressively finer grit paper on a DA and eventually a hand sanding block I think you might be able to make them presentable. That depends on your skill level with such products and tools.

I'm not running you down but they aren't very good looking at the moment but they probably are salvageable with some putty and plenty of elbow-grease.

Like I said, I surely give you credit for trying.

And the guys that are poking fun probably wouldn't have even given it a try ! At least you did.

 just need some more time to finish them. You've got the shape and contours :)

Hi thanks for the positive posts yes they are fibreglass. The negative are nothing more than expected like you said probably people who would

Wouldn’t attempt to do anything themselves.
Hay ho never mind . No point worrying about it. They have kept me busy for a couple of evenings better than sitting on here sla- - ing people off. :D :D

Credit to you for giving it a go.

A bit of sanding and maybe some filling and they ought to work pretty well.
