Hi, so I decided to fix my 2003's automatic soft top. I was aware of two main problems: one being the hydraulic motor not working and the other being that part of the structure was actually broken. I got the entire top off and sure enough the motor cavity was clogged and the motor was literally rusted so bad it wouldn't turn. Now, the motor is an easy fix, the replacement is on the way, but the structure is not so quick. Somehow I managed to crack the casted alumunium-magnesium arch on the left side. This was riveted to both the headliner and the soft top. Another part (54-31-7-043-903) was broken too, but that was just bolted to the cast part and was what the weather sealing sat on. So, I am the point in the process where I have removed the lower, larger piece of this arch that was riveted, however the upper piece is really confusing me. It looks like its held in with a pin (Circled in pics). There was also a torx bolt running perpendicular to it (Different pin, arrow pointing to bolt), so I'm guessing this locked the pin in place. This is all I need to get out to get the part out. Anyone know how to get this out? My intention was to get this part TIG welded back together, as the frame of the Z4 soft top is only sold as an entire unit. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
