Soft top release button

I decided to give the inside of the car a good clean and pushed the soft top release button in to give the area a wipe with a cloth. The button now comes up on one side only. Has anyone come across this problem? It looks as though the plastic pivot and spring on one side have come out of their correct location. Mine is a power hood so the only problem it's causing is it looks naff!

It's the large rectangular button just in front of the slipstream deflector above the dropdown box where the phone is located.

You will probably need to remove that bit of trim to re-seat the button if you cant get it back into place.

Yep - need to take the trim off to get to it. My guess is you were way too brutal cleaning it and have brkone the hinge mount off at one side. If you're lucky find the bit or reconstruct a pivot, else credit cards to BMW

Manual release of the softtop iirc. In reality nothing of use and just breaks. Not pressed/used mine in 3 years of ownership

I wish that I hadn't pressed mine - Once I fix it I won't push it again!!

i was cleaning mine today and had exacttly the same thing happen.

I got it back by pressing it in again and gently guiding it with my fingers as it came back up... really really fidgety
