SOFT TOP RATTLE

The soft top on my 2004 z4 rattles when stowed,the noise appears to come from between the head restraints ,is there any quick fix,is it a common problem as it is really annoying when driving with the top down.
 
Do a search mate and it can be fixed with foam pads/removal of hatch (which isn't on facelift models) :thumbsup:
 
It's usually the catch mechanism - IIRC Bing did a thread on this when he was pre-///M. Quick patch is to use some fabric tape around it.

You should also look at the storage lid, that is sometimes a source of squeaks.

I didn't start the thread but if you read through there's a bunch of stuff on what I did. Second page, started trying to stop wear on the roof liner, moved on to banishing a squeak. Then it can back again, page 3, more work required. Finally fixed it, beware Ranski's warning at the end about the plastic tabs breaking...
 
I stuck a piece of 'woolly' velcro to the centre catch on my Zed...hasn't squeaked or rattled since ! :thumbsup:
