soft top motor fix ends in disaster

so today i decided i was fed up with the roof motor not working anymore, and i saw a post a while back that said they could be cleaned and returned to service. followed all the threads and guid, and the motor was spinning like a top by the end of it, but a few problems have since arisen. when the roof was laying in my garage, it was laying so that the cylinders on either side were parallel with the ground, and when i returned from cleaning the motor there was a puddle of hydraulic fluid on the ground. not to mention i now have water and rust remover mixed into the lines via the actual hydraulic pump i tried to use the rust remover on naively thinking that when you separated the motor from it that the system was still sealed. all things aside, when the roof made it back onto the car i now have a red roof light blinking, a random connector rattling around with no wires attached to it (i know what it was plugged into, i just have no idea where the wires went) and when i run the motor the cylinder that the fluid leaked out of just makes a gurgling noise. so it was a rather disastrous night. plus i have to be at work tomorrow morn, and its supposed to rain.............

so long story short, i need to know if its possible to purge and re-prime the whole system, or if im screwed and need to order a new roof and let the blokes at the shop handle it..

u can buy the fluid from bmw so u must be able to re-charge the system, but u will need to drain the system and then put the correct amount of fluid back in

Ok,

You need to empty the system of what is now in there.. I would operate the motor without the hoses attached to get the fluid out and work the rams with hoses attached to purge the rams of fluid.

You then need a bottle of hydraulic oil,IIRC it about £15 GBP from the main dealers.

You then need to introduce the fluid into the pump reservoir and operate the roof to get the hydraulic fluid around the system.

Firstly though you need to know where the wires are for your connector..This may hinder the operation of the roof anyway..

The system is self priming,so introduce a little oil at a time until the gurgling sound goes and you start to see the roof operate.
