Soft top module

Have any of you guys fitted this roof module ( x car style verdeck modul fitting z4 g29) ? It seems to do the same as the smart top one from mods for cars but it’s a lot cheaper .

I haven't had this.

Also, i'm wondering, what this comfort module/top control module supposed to do? G29 can already open and close the roof using key. Will this give you the ability to open or close using 3rd party phone app? Or will it open or close the roof automatically based on weather forcast or other settings? I think I miss something here. :tumbleweed:
 
watch the youtube vid on the site above - basically 1 touch open and close from in the car and 3-4 touch on the key fob. not worth it in my opinion
 
So the only difference is that I don't have to hold the button when open or close the roof. If so, then I agree, not worth it.
 
Doesn't seem worthwhile to me, I don't have any problems with the current setup. I can think of better ways to spend £200.

It can? Mine doesnt. Is that not an option? Might be standard on newer models, but mines a 2019.

Does your car has comfort access? For example, can you lock and unlock the car by touch the door handle without touching the key? Maybe remote open and close roof is part of comfort access.

You have to be pretty close for it to open the roof.
Might be a coding option if not?
I don’t see the point of the module though. Honestly the number of times I have used that remote to open or close the roof is twice and both times was just to show someone.

You can open the roof while moving which is what I do.

Dropping the roof before getting into or out of the car is an important option for me as I am not quite as flexible these days!

It feels like this might be the case. I was stood right next to the drivers side windows when i tested it, so i dont think range is the issue.

Same here, 2019 model. Windows go down but not the roof.

I shall be in my new G29 in a couple of weeks time (all being well :) ), let's see if that makes any difference.

In my M40i the roof drops as well as the windows. Mine has the comfort and technology packs.
 
I have a feeling its part of the comfort pack, but if its just a coding thing, rather than a physical module it should be something that can be enabled, surely?
 
Hello,

I have installed that module and works great with the standard key.
Three times pressing the close or open button will activate the roof fully open or close.
Will function at a long range as long the car responce to the key with close and open function you can activate.

Also when driving only need to press the button for 2 seconds, don't need to hold it.

Installing is easy with good description.

I hate to brag but I don't find holding the roof open / close button for 15 seconds or so, too much of an effort.
 
The one push op is often quite handy in slow moving / stop start traffic but the operation of open and close from the fob is vital for me .
 
When I was looking at an M40i thf salesman did say the fob buttons opened and closed the roof although he didn’t sound 100% convincing !
