Soft top marks caused by rubbing on rear seal

Hi
I have two problems with my 57 player Z4.
1. The soft top has two marks being made in the fabric. Its caused by the top rubbing on the rear seal when it's in down configuration.

I dont know how to cure the problem, has anyone heard of this happening before? Ideally the roof wants shifting forward off the seal I guess.

2. After being sat outside with bunged up, water filled, rain holes, the roof no longer opens electrically. The front windscreen latches unlock and the windows move when the roof down button pressed, but beyond that, nothing. I hear the relay kick in which I presume starts the motor...but nothing happens.

Where do I need to start looking?

Thanks for your help if can.

The motor has likely drowned.
You will need to remove it, hopefully revive it by drying it out and cleaning it with contact cleaner and then refit it in the boot rather than in the drain funnel. Alternatively there are some chaps on the forum offering to do this job for a fee.
I coincidentally relocated mine to the boot just this morning and can confirm it is a complete pain in the arse!

Even if the motor is not the culprit it is still worth moving it into the boot to save it from future damage.

As for the roof rubbing in places; let me know if you find a solution, mine has a couple of grazes on it too. They don't bother me so much but they would if they turned into holes!

I had a similar problem when I had my E85, hopefully you will find some useful tips in this thread https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=63460&hilit=Roof+rubbing

No need to apologise!
It's my poor grammar (capitalising both words) that probably mislead you!
Would be one cool name to be fair!

Welcome to the Forum.
Theres a couple of members on the Forum who offer a service in relocating and reviving the roof motors. (I'm one)
Where about's in the country are you based ?

I don't think there is an option to pull the roof forward at all as the main bolt goes through a precise hole in the roof hinge to a threaded hole in the bodywork, so I cant see any room for movement there, (not from my experience anyway and I've had dozens of roofs out)
I think management of the rubber is the best option

Hi - thanks folks for the welcome and responses.

I'm actually based in North Nottinghamshire.

Could you help with management of the rubber? What sort of things can I do to help the situation? If the roof cannot go forward (which I get your point), can the rubber seal be moved backward? Is the piece of body work it's attached to moveable? Is it possible for it to 'settle' or dislodge over time?

Cheers

Check to see if the rubber seals are split where they meet the roof, below your line of sight, you may have to feel for splits, the sharper edges where the seals split could be causing extra friction on the roof,
I have had this cause of roof rubbing previously
