Soft top hatch wont "connect"

The hatch wont secure the softtop when I open the roof, Ive got to use one hand an push it just a little bit to make it "connect"
Anyone ho got any tips and is it even secure to drive with it down, maybe the wind can catch it?

if you search there are many posts on this issue, from memory it's usually a result of some of the fabric not folding correctly. Also it has been know for dealers to remove the catch altogther, but not sure for reason on that one.
 
Ive searched but couldnt find the direct answer to how the fabric should fold, I remember seeing it in a post though..
 
If the lamp is flashing it means the roof is not fully down, but the latch does not stop this. Have you got the storage box in the boot pulled down? It may be stopping the roof folding completely ?
 
If I run over a bump the roof shakes a little and then the lamp goes off, at least thats what I think happends
Anyone with the "removed hatch" who have this problem?
 
It sounds like its not fully opening. The latch doesnt effect the lamp. I have removed the two clips, but not the latch, trying to eliminate the squeek. It still squeeks so I'm going to remove the entire latch. The latch is not present on facelift cars, so it is not the latch that is the problem.

Check the soft top box in the boot, make sure you hold the button until it stops flashing... if it wont stop, something is stopping it.
 
hmm, thats strange the what controls if the lamp shold blink or not, maybe the microswitch, but if the hatch wont hold the roof the lamp should go off when the roof shakes a bit (in down position)
This would be a problem in "hatchless" cars?
 
Problem solved!!
I adjusted the soft top hatch (the one between the rollbars) slightly and now it works smoothly again :D
 
Mine's started doing this lately, I think it might be the lower temperatures?

Its usually fine, but a couple of times its not locked down properly until I push it down.

How did you adjust the catch? Did you need to take the soft top storage box out?
 
Thank you. I'll have a look at it at some point its not a huge problem, only an issue if I drop the top during a journey.
