Ok my 3rd z4 03 se, 06 si sport, 08 si sport.
Got a hard top and had no issues with the others. after winter I took the top off and raised the roof, and found slight damage to the fabric, and some scuff marks on the roof. it is a colour coded grey top not the normal balck. inside started to notice white water marks on the fabric. Also on the inside plastic strip on the front it was quite scuffed.
Well in june took it in for its service and mot just as the warty was finishing and noted
1) soft top damage
2) rear rims corroding (had new 4 last year)
3) remote key stopped working
4) small pin head raised blisters on petrol cap, and boot
5) a small dent caused by someon throwing a key/ stone at the car last year (police could not prove the gimp did it, my word against his)
When i took it in 33K miles it needed new pads front and back, ok then they called needed front disks. What 1 set of pads and a set of discks. It depends on how you drive she said, my 3rd z4 all had higher miles, all from 6 months never known to have new disks before so £1000 bill
The agreed all needs doing and will do excepth the dent. Ok fine
5 weeks later still no news so I contacted them, ahh yes the rims are in, what about the top, oh ill check. then nothing
call from bmw yes we have the top in, booked in for 1 day 2 weeks later ( I needed collect and delivery. I said can the top be fitted in a day, yes she said. I said what about the dent, oh body shop did not see it (it was in for the service but they had no time to quote)
car got collected. then a call good news the rims are changed, bad news we cant fit the top in a day. oh i said ok need to rearrage a pick up but i will need a car if its 2 days, ok they said made an appointment 2 weeks later. what about the dent, ahhh ody shop had no time to look but will see next time. Im talking about wrty and my damage.
so they dropped off the car picked mine up. had a call that day bad news the top is black not grey. ahhhhh ok what about the body shop? they did not have the time to do it now. HOW much is the dent going to cost me. They did not know. We will book it in for 4 days 2 parts 2 body shop. Ill need pick up and car. yes 2 weeks time
so last tuesday they picked it up for 4 days i noticed a note on the paper work " inform customer of £210 for key. I said i dont think it was placed under watry. had a call on wed good news the top is on and its going off to body shop. thursday friday now news so called late, got passed to body shop, we only got the car today due to them having issues fitting the new roof. oh so i wont be getting the car today then. got a message wait for it, there is a problem with the soft top they fitted, a manufactures defect so need anoter one. AHHHHHHHH
so monday nothing, tuesday nothing, today got a message that the car has just been returned from bodyshop and the 2nd new roof will be fitted tommorow with delivery in the pm.
I cant really grumble they had replaced everything so far under wrty and supplied me with a car 116 11 plate infact on saturday opened the boot and found its a sale car with all the details and the sale sign. I would put the sale details up if I knew never know they might sell it lol.
my issue is i have now got an extended warenty from bmw direct, what if the top gets scuffed again will it be covered by warty or by BMW/ as this is a new top they fitted which should have 1 year warty. I wont know until spring next year. Its not the hard top, they are great, and saves the soft top, but if the soft top becomes unaligned then it can rub and wear
