Soft top cleaner.

Has anyone used the Meguiars soft top cleaner? I bought some today and wondered if it was any good or have I wasted £9.99?

I haven't, but I am sure someone has recently on here - I remember because they definitely used the Megs proofer and I decided I will try it when my AG stuff is finished. Tbh, I find Megs products very good - I have a few of their polishes of various types, and use their wheel cleaner, tyre shine and quick detailer every wash. So I reckon you'll be ok - be interested in what you think when you've used it.

I'll see if I get a chance before I go back to work. I tried the AG kit which was good but I used all the cleaner and still have half a bottle of proofer left so got the Megs cleaner rather than buy the full kit from AG. Megs products seem to be a popular choice on here so should be ok.

I just used Fabsil water proofer on Saturday and gave the roof a quick clean with a power wash then used the fabsil which you put on with a paint brush, very easy to apply and when it dried the roof is so black again with no visible marks from the roof frame so I would say fabsil does revive the roof as mine now looks MINT and the water beads off it for fun, £13 for 1 litre from Halfords I will always use this from now on.

Will give it a go too!

I've used it and it's perfect.
however, you will also need this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_804693_langId_-1_categoryId_255237

And you'll only get one use out of the cleaner :/

For that reason, I stopped using it and went to Autoglym's kit.

My roof was really clean so my friend who is brilliant at valeting cars just gave the roof a quick blast with his power washer and the next day I applied the fabsil which is used to waterproof tents and job done the roof looks like a brand new one it is a superb product, I also did my wife's Smart for two convertible as well and still had around a quarter of the tin left.

I picked up 5 litres of Fabsil for £30 delivered, online last year.Do a Google search or Ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-AWNING-TENT-FABSIL-REPROOFER-UV-PROTECTOR-5-LITRE-/200804685954?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item2ec0e45882

Have a read of this thread on how to prepare the soft top before doing the Fabsil. http://www.ttforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=115683

Just some input, fabsil is a water proofer, the top layer on our roofs are designed to let the water through to the next layer, so not sure if it's a good or bad thing to use??!!

For the record I used renovos 3 stage kit other week and looks good, though you can still see the fold lines a bit despite using the coloured reviver!

Everyone has different opinions regarding soft top care.Mine was looking a bit green on the top and the milton tablets killed the spores and a few days later I did the stuff from the TT forum thread and i'm pleased with the results.I have a couple of fold lines in mine at the front.I haven't used any coloured reviver.
I think that if the roof is designed to let water through, all the crap collects in the material and can look like moss.

If you check out other car forums you will see that Fabsil has been used many many times by owners of soft tops and they all praise it highly so I don't think there's anything to worry about when using it.

5 litres for £30 would do your roof about 5 times.I gave mine 2 coats over 24 hours in my garage for last winter and it's still looking good

I used the Megs cleaner yesterday and I'm pretty impressed with the results better than the AG I think, was going to use the AG proofer today but its forecast rain today so have to see what the weather does.

Just as a side note... I wouldn't be using a power washer on the roof...

Each to their own :) my friend valets a lot of cars and knows what he is doing he doesn't go full blast directly at the soft top it is just a quick angled blast and there are no lines or marks whatsoever.
