Do a search here and you will find lots of info, Z4's has fabric tops. I use Raggtopp alond with mant others, although the same can be said for the BMW product.

Both applied differently, so as they say the choice is yours.

Used the AG Kit and was very easy apart from masking everything up not difficualt but time consuming.

Beaded up well but is now in need of re treating may try something else that is not spray on.

Ragtopp is good, but useless if you cant apply it in a covered area and have any wind at all, it just blows away. Autoglym is not bad, but not as effective as BMW stuff or ragtopp, but it is more readily available. BMW product was probably on a par with ragtopp I think.

I picked up the BMW Z4 care kit today for £50. It has all the parts for cleaning the car inside and out include the products for the roof. The BMW kit is meant to give good results I will let you know how I get on with it if you like :)

I use the one that comes with the bmw carepackage, which works very well if you ask me. And the car shampoo there is much better than any other product I tried

used some renvo cleaner and proofer the other day, i cant stress how dissapointed i am.... its not removed dirt or protected the roof to anywhere near the standard of autoglym

Glad i never ordered any

I used the BMW roof products yesterday and the roof looked lovely and black but I did get the marks again soon as I put the top down. The roof still looks good though :) I haven't tried any of the other included products.

Good evening Sniry,

My understanding is that the fabric is Haartz cloth. That company recommends "Raggtopp". They also have top cleaning information on their website, www.haartz.com. However, I'm sure you're fine with the BMW products.

I've used Raggtopp for a few years on mine. Looks and works great. I'm fortunate to be able to keep mine in a garage also.

Another trick to keeping the top looking good is to use one of those sticky clothing lint rollers. It collects all the little fibers from your wash mitt after the top is dry.

Good luck! :drinkwine:

I've only just become a Z4 owner so never had to clean a soft top before... probably a newbie question but...

When washing the rest of the car with normal shampoo should I wash the soft top as well with my sponge and shampoo or try and avoid it?

Always wash the car with a car wash and I always wash the top (lightly) when I wash the rest of the car. Rinse with a hose on an oblique angle not 90deg.

Btw, I have used Raggtopp and the BMW treatment, I much prefer the BMW top cleaner/conditioner.

Whats the durability of the BMW protector like ?

The protection isn't that great. I mean it doesn't turn canvas into vinyl. But it does help repel moisture. I believe that it does prevent moisture from penetrating the canvas but nothing else. Durability? Hell if I know. Like I wrote. I wash with a car shampoo and do not scrub for any reason. Raggtopp or anything else isn't made out of titanium so be gentle when washing. I apply the BMW product twice per year and it appears to work fine.
