SoCalZ's are going to start the year off right with a drive through Orange County California.

This is an annual event put on by Bench Racing ( part of the group at Cars & Coffee Irvine that we attend ) that we have attended for 4 years. We start off in Irving at Bench Racing and they pass out drive directions. It is generally different every year so the route is unknown until that morning show up with a tank of gas and what ever you need. I have been looking for a meet point with restrooms and coffee and have not found one due to it being NEW YEARS Day ( even McDonald's does not open till 10:30). So the meet point will be a parking lot near Bench Racing so we can roll in as a group. Bench Racing will be only a mile or so away and their restrooms will be open. We will meet at the parking lot at 7:30 and leave the lot by 7:45 and arrive at Bench at 8:00. The drive ends about 2 hours later at a place where they serve food.

If you ever get to Southern California just let me know. You do not need your Z I will pick you up and take you for a tour. I have done this for several people on this and other forums. Even if they have a Ford Mustang rental. LOL This goes for anyone coming to SoCal.

FYI...fill up your car THE NIGHT BEFORE! I had a hell of a time finding even an unmanned pump that was working last New Year's morning.

Would love to go, but we're set with tickets for the rose bowl ... sorry. Two great events on same day .... the kids won.

count me in for this!
-You're not afraid of running out of race gas on the trip?

how many miles is it total, you think? i got a range of a little over 200 miles

They talk about it being on the order of a couple hours, so that limits things to 100-120 miles.

Bob, count me in for the New Year's festivities, though Charlotte will probably be a no-show.

sounds like a blast cant wait.

Welcome to the group. :driving: Make sure you get gas Friday night. I will be calling Starbucks this morning to see if they will be open or not. They did not know their schedule when I called weeks ago. Look forward to meeting you.

Bob
