It's only because I'm at a training base. Besides weekends are usually free. Granted I probably won't have the spare cash to make all these trips :cry:

I really do not have any input on that one. When we went last year we stayed till noon ,went for lunch and most of us drove home.

Do you believe that gug called me a perv that day. When we drove to Rodeo Drive the next day, he called me a dirty old man.All I could say to him was: I'm not dead yet!!

I just came back from Vegas last weekend and there were pods starting, however there were no blooms .
Have you been out and seen blooms?
 
The flowers are out at lower elevations but not yet high. Both the Anza Borrego desert and southern Joshua Tree are at peak, but northern JTree is still pretty barren. I haven't checked the Antelope Valley area in person lately, but I would guess that it will need another 3-4 weeks to max out.

You must have satelite to know this from Antarctica ? I guess there is a trip due then. Anyone have time on Saturday?
 
I was in Jtree this past weekend and in Borrego / Salton Sea the weekend before. Commuter shuttles between McMurdo and LAX are cheap this time of year.
 
Anza Borrego peaks in March, I haven't been there this year, but I did just get back from Joshua Tree, Vachss is right, the southern part of the park is in full bloom, in the northern part of the park there are some wild flowers and the Joshua Trees and Yuccas are in bloom, but it is obvious that the real show will happen in about a monh.
