SoCalz's - December 1st - 2nd Annual Desert Run

I still haven't decided where to meet up. I was thinking somewheres along the way from here to there. Although just to make it easier on me I might just drive to my friends in Desert Hot Springs drop off my bag then meet at Palm Desert.

Any recommendations?

Sounds good to me. 10 and 215 sounds great for us.
Is there any one hotel that the majority of the group is booking at or is everyone just booking on their own? I think my wife wants to stay at the JW Marriott Resort but if everyone is booking together then we'll stay where the group stays.

CaZ4 - DewZ4 has a list of hotels with some special rates. I'm staying at Embassy Suites La Quinta - 10 minutes from our end point, across the street from old town la quinta.

Ok we'll probably book a room at Embassy Suites also then.
Looking forward to going for a drive! My car sits in the garage a lot since the kids don't really fit too well in it! :D

Maybe I should get buzy and book a room soon.....

Booked in at the Hilton Garden Inn for 2 atm.

Do we have a vague planning timeline for the nonweekends non events.

We booked at the Embassy Sweets, La Quinta also. Looks like a nice place. btw, I am on Bob's list as mroadster instead of tmachine. Looking forward to the drive, it sounds like fun.

Oh Gawd, what now....

Let me guess..

Dune racing in Anza Barango
A rally between the Red Sand and Morongo Indian Casinos for slurpies?
Golf Cart skid pad testing at Seiszure World?

Ok, sorry for not posting much. Water leak and wood floors don't mix and my PC died. I am borrowing a laptop from a neighbor at the moment. So posts will be slow coming from me until I get a new box.

I was thinking to meet at the Von's parking lot on the north west side of the intersection of 111 and the 74 in Palm Desert at 10:00 Saturday morning Dec 1.

After a meet and greet, we will head off for some twisties and be in Idyllwild by noon where we will have lunch at Idyllwild Cafe. After lunch another dose of twisties. There are several nice pic areas there , so bring your cameras.

We will have about 50 miles of freeway after the twisties to the airport.

The drive is 133 miles long from start to finish.

IF you can, a dish to share at the airport would be good. Post what you are planning to bring, so we do not all bring beans. HAHA,

For those that would like to caravan to Palm Desert, I will get an address near the 215(91) and the 10 to meet at. I Think we should meet there at 8:45.

Before the start of the caravan, can we meet someplace to have breakfeast? We'll leave home without breakfast - so maybe meet at millies?

are we going to take the 243 back to the 10 from idyllwild? That's a nice drive :D
I've done it on the bike a few times but going the other way (from Banning to Palm Springs). Hope I'll be alright doing it backwards...

Isn't there a Millie's on Hospitality lane?
Exit 10 at Waterman north (exit just east of 215/10 interchange).
turn right on Hospitality lane, Millie's is on the right.

I don't think a dish would survive my driving. Especially at my current rate. I'd like a caravan address to throw into my GPS. Mainly as the rest of the stuff I won't have a big clue on where to go. Do we use motorola handhelds on runs? Should I bring mine?

CaZ4 - yes, thats the millies I was thinking of. actually, we had breakfast there just a couple of weekends ago. That'll work.

Aebous, yes - we use those motorolas, I'll remember to bring ours. IMZ4N usually brings a few spares. And extra batteries (one time mine were dead and bob had spares! talk about being prepared!).

14 days an counting down!

Sweet. Ok give me an address and time....
I looked on google maps, couldn't find that millies place. I'm assuming your going to PM an address for the 215 and 10 location? Or will it be a rest stop?
