So... who is the greatest F1 driver of all time?

Senna gets my vote every time.

Totally lost interest in F1 these days. Heyday for me was from early 80's to mid 90's. Since then it's just been a combination of compromising rules and charismaless drivers and where races are just won and lost in the pits. Stiflingly boring imo.

I kept all my copies of Grand Prix magazine from the early 80's. There's a photo at some race of Keke Rosberg toking on a doobie quite openly which I'll scan and upload when I get a chance. Things were different back then. Drivers actually had character and charisma. Nowadays theyre all just little, pampered robots. :|

I've been a fan of F1 since the early 60s , There have been MANY great drivers over the years , but I still remember hearing on the radio of Clark's death and not ashamed to admit shedding tears........

Oh and I forgot to add.......Hamilton is the greatest of all time , and I hope his record stands for many years , now if only whiney little b1tches that promote/manufacture some nasty energy drink can admit they just ain't good enough :fuelfire:

I think Britney's performance speaks for itself, Nico is a damn good driver but he isnt the worlds greatest and he was able to consistently challenge hammy when in the same car, since then merc has made sure to have a completely whipped bottas in the opposite seat. Although I do appreciate them bringing in George, I just hope the hammy central team doesnt absolutely crush him like it did with Nico

In terms of Vettel I really liked him and still do but he was in the fastest car on the grid at the time and not being a hypocrite I cant in good conscience vote for him when I decry hammy fans for doing the same

I think it is more because he is still racing but in a 'middle of the pack' car that doesn't make it to the podium. People forget very quickly. The current World Champion has the highest votes because people see him winning regularly in the fastest car. When we have a few more World Champions, Hamilton would not get as many votes as he has here. I now readily accept that you cannot compare F1 drivers but you can compare racing drivers and that is where Jim Clark wins hands down.

It's pretty obvious to all, that it takes more than being a very fast driver to be an F1 word champion. Nico was a very fast driver, even by F1 standards, but he was not as good as Hamilton, even when he won, IMHO. He just got on a roll and was able to live with Lewis for a period. He knew another season he was unlikely to win, due to the pressures out of the car and the fact that Lewis race craft, on a Sunday, was far better than his. So he took the easier option. (Sensible for 99.9999% of racing drivers). It's only the other 0.0001% that have the complete package, that can be compared as greatest.
