So what do we think of these???

great for storing old classics but for cars that are used regularly I don't see the point - remember the old saying

"if you want a car in showroom condition - leave it in the showroom"

:?

If you have a garage you can have damp within it which will attack your car.

My car won't be used over winter, it'll be SORN, as I have another car as my daily.

I was thinking about one just to keep the moisture away

There are different versions of this kind of thing. My mate used to keep his 1954 Rolls Royce in one that had carbon rods to make a frame. It created a positive airflow out of the plastic container by the use of fans and this reduced moisture and kept dust away from the car. it seemed to work very well. It had zip up doors with Velcro and the car could be driven in and out easily (even though it was a massive vehicle.) It also had side door zips so it was easy to access the doors either side (he kept the car in a barn). Another mate of ours bought it and uses it to store his motor cycles and old magazines.

If you're thinking of storing your Zed for a time I'm sure this would be helpful but I would search out the options that have these frames as it might be a lot easier to use. Also we found that if the fans stopped working (which they did over time) - it was a lot cheaper replacing them with computer fan units than purchase them from the manufacturer of the container (same fan in the container my mate had).

:driving:

It would be a bit of a faff (and total overkill) for a daily driver, but for a car which is in storage for any length of time it's an ideal solution.

I have a friend who has a fully restored Austin Healey which isn't driven very often, and which lives in a large (reasonably dry) barn. He keeps it is a Carcoon and it works really well - there are a couple of fans which keep the air circulating and dry (he has put the car away wet and it fully dries it out) and you can also put a battery conditioner on the car.

You can also get them with an internal frame, which means that you can just unzip the door and drive in and out, but it depends on the shape of your garage as to whether you can use one of these.

After reading the information and knowing your car is going to be off the road for 4-6 months. Its a no Brainer from me . If I had your circumstance I would Buy One.
Very little running costs no Damp and no Dust.

For long term storage in a slightly damp Garage, looks like a great solution.

Not sure I'd bother, if it was Just a Coupe though.

It's only £400- if you like it I'd say go for it! Many people have spent much more on mods that add little/nothing to the car, if you want to spend your money protecting your z then great.

PLEASE... someone buy one of these for parking on the street. Can you imagine?! Probably a brick through your window within 5 minutes.
