So... these warning lights...

I would say almost definitely ABS sensor. Had the same on my E46. You may also notice erratic things happening e.g. the ABS coming on when you don't expect it to or not coming on :cry:

I locked up my two front wheels at about 80mph when a truck suddenly pulled out as I was overtaking on a motorway and flattened the tyres before I realised what was happening :o

I paid BMW £100 to change a sensor (there was a fault code). I didn't know that it was worth trying to clean them as per Jimmy Gee's post above.
 
Dont pay the stealers, take out all wheel sensors and clean,clean all cables as much as you can spray WD40 let soak,should cure,did me :D :driving:
 
Tried the lock-to-lock without joy so it is probably the ABS sensor(s). Is it more likely to be the fronts or the rear. Or is it just a case of doing them all?
 
Go to a local indy and have them hook it up to a ODB reader. That will tell you exactly the sensor that has tripped the warning.

Tino, do you have a pick of where the cable is and how to disconnect it. I'm getting these come on every third journey or so for the last month.

To clean up the sensors all you need to do is jack the car up, take the wheel off and locate the wheel speed sensor on the back of the hub, it is a black plastic looking thing about an inch tall with a 5mm allen key bolt holding it in at the lower end. Remove the bolt, probably rusted in but just use plenty of wd40 and ease it out, then I just used a soft brush and some wd40 to clean up the sensor and then replace. Each corner will prob take you 15-20 mins but the fronts are slightly more difficult to get to and are housed differently but its the same process to remove.

Hi All,

This Morning I had exactly the same lights come on as OP. I hadnt used it for a week and the battery did struggle to turn over but wasnt completely flat as the Transit mode hadnt kicked in.

How do you describe the 2 symbols if i was to ring up my dealer? I have extended warrenty so be rude not to use it.

DSC light and yellow stop/warning light.
 
Hi,

Not sure whether to start a new thread or carry on here but last night i tried the steering lock thing to reset the steering angle sensor i did notice it didnt start instanly. Then this morning it hardly turned over, got it started and all the lights came on and went out including thr DSC and Stop/warning light.

Could it be the battery just playing havoke with the dash?

Im half thinking about calling the RAC to meet me at my car tonight incase it wont start and wack a new battery in to be safe.

Im booked in BMW next thursday for a diagnostic check.

Any Advice?

Update.

Got the car started yesterday, took it for a blast and slow charged it last night. It started up fine this morning no warning lights or trouble starting.....

Ill hold on to my booking at BMW but could it have been purely down to the battery?

My battery has been dodgy for a couple of years, doesn't like the cold but doesn't come up as faulty/dead when checked. I have a ciggie plug in thing that shows condition with three lights, goes on charge when I loose first light. Been fine since.

Final Update for now lol

Had no issues at all after doing as suggested on this thread and it being charged. Really strange but i cancelled taking it in to BMW unless it showed the warning light again.
