So.. The i8 is officially launched...

I like it a lot. The back end is great - those light clusters look brilliant. Shame about the e89 steering wheel

...oh, and the roundels = about to become the most stolen BMW badge in history, if the chavs get half a chance.

@Kryton - review when you've had a play ?

The quote was "pretty dam fast 4.4 s"..... 991S 4.1s (at the most) with Sports Chrono cost £90+k,

The mpg figure won't be anything like that say 65-70 mpg, however spending £100k on a car, mpg is of little consequence :)

4.4s is still "pretty damn fast", even if it isn't the fastest car available.

the 570 Nm of torque (compared to the 991 S' of 440 Nm) will certainly help the car perform better (and feel much faster) when exiting corners, overtaking or generally planting your right foot.

I cannot see how anybody can be negative about this car's performance.

Try "planting your right foot" at 155 mph

In your case don't you mean 155 RPM? :P

At a time when many countries set their new car tax on how much Co2 a car creates, you could in theory save thousands in tax compared to a conventional car with comparable performance. Also yearly road tax is getting more and more expensive for newer cars, and that is Co2 related too.

I think it looks fantastic but it's going to have to handle like a real sports car, other wise it's just a vanity project.

Looks interesting and the styling is some of the best I've seen from BMW post Bangle - this car will sell as it will have the right image .

Not been a fan of a lot of recent BMWs but this one looks to have moved the game on, pity the i3 is so ugly.

Hey don't pick on little innocent me

The car could look better in the flesh so I'll wait until I drive one, performance to match an M3 and a basic 991 not sure how good residuals will be after warranty runs out though given the battery/electric motors :o

When will the batteries need replaced - isn't it 5 years or something ? And it costs a fortune ? Worth a google...

I wonder if they will offer some sort of insurance / investment fund approach to offset the future cost of having to change them ?

Will be interested to read about how it handles, power is nothing without control, nor responsibility or is that spiderman, anyway looking forward to a Chris Harris special vid!

I think it looks ok but it's been around for a few years now so it's lost it's impact.
Wonder if itll be allowed to keep the blue accents for uk.
Although gullwing a doors will never get boring I don't think.

Would love to see a photoshop with some CSLs on

You can have optional LASER headlights - how cool is that ??? 8)

Bet it's a £5k option

I think this issue could be the elephant in the room

Interesting car, definitely!
But where did the Audi A6 LED headlights come from? Where is the Corona-rings?
And Lambo doors - it's not as imaginative.

I miss BMW characteristics. It is only the kidney showing that it is a BMW. It lacks soul!

I wonder if BMW will do a battery hire scheme for this like Renault do? I guess this isn't a complete electric only vehicle mind. http://www.renault.co.uk/cars/model/twizy/zebattery.aspx
