TBF your a hard man to please everything that comes out you are meh to.

I think they are amazing, cant wait to see a production model.

No I think its a nice looking car, but the meh part is I just feel a bit jaded about BMW build quality and its that aspect I'm 'meh' about wondering if its going to rattle and fall apart!

edit: You're right though, I am a hard man to please ;)

£100k for a car that does not have the BHP=rip off

It's a step forward in tech tho, sure no one will buy it, or maybe it's replacement...but the one after that

The bhp figure is only used to sell cars... its similar to megapixels in camera's and processors speeds in the early 00.

as its electric with full power from 0rpm the acceleration will be pretty brutal 0-62 4.4s is pretty damn fast considering its weight.

But i agree with Maniac to some degree.. at this price the build quality will def have to be more then just a 3 series in fancy clothes.

Basically 911 teritory, 4.4 - 60, that does 90mpg thats a feat of engineering and it looks awesome... I dont see how it wont sell.

Its an awesome car completely different package and is 2-300k cheaper than any of the other performance hybrids. Even in the UK they are sold out at launch.

The point of it is that you run it on the petrol engine with the elec until you hit the city then put it into full elec mode in the city where a similar car like an M3 or 911 will struggle to get mpg in the high teens

Not for a £100k car it isn't :)

Dont see how brand new 911 Cs is 90+ with a few options similar price similar performance... and it does a 3rd the MPG

As Tom says its comparable 0-62 is comparable to a 911, and faster then the V8 R8, and a jag XKR which when you spec those out wont be far off 100K.

You also pay more for a new concept and a new idea and the tech on it is mind blowing if you read into it.

If I was in the market for a hybrid sportscar it would be a no brainer for me. I loved them as soon as I saw them, seeing the first one during the olympics at park lane then at the BMW Welt they look amazing in person so many angles and the aerodynamics are so different to many other modern cars, they even redesigned the wheel well and wheels to increase ari flow because they cause 30% of drag.

Not to mention a torque figure of 570 Nm. Pretty impressive.

I love it, looks great, impressive stats (even if the 0-60 isn't price range leading) and a great feat of engineering.

Tom, the quote was "pretty dam fast 4.4 s"..... 991S 4.1s (at the most) with Sports Chrono cost £90+k and 188 mph (23 mpg)

The mpg figure won't be anything like that say 65-70 mpg, however spending £100k on a car, mpg is of little consequence :)

I must admit I was hoping for big things for this car with a view to purchasing, however it's (IMO) all about fuel economy, also 155 mph is naff, :(

4.4s is still "pretty damn fast", even if it isn't the fastest car available.

the 570 Nm of torque (compared to the 991 S' of 440 Nm) will certainly help the car perform better (and feel much faster) when exiting corners, overtaking or generally planting your right foot.

I cannot see how anybody can be negative about this car's performance.

The brief for the i8 was never all out speed otherwise it would have been in the stratosphere like the LaFerrari and 918 in the 300+k price range

Its the only car in the bracket apart from the Tesla.

How is a car that does 0-60 in 4.4 and even if it did 65-70mpg how is that a problem!? Its more than double anything else on the market and is still a capable car.

Seen as tho hybrids are still in the experimentation stage this is a huge break through and you need to look at the bigger picture.

Try "planting your right foot" at 155 mph

Heck i thought a civic hybrid i had from hertz was damn fast in ev mode... Until i realised i was only going 20mph

I personally like the pin you to the seat feeling that electric motors give.
