So now I have to modify it

So my insurance renewal came up and i was messing about with online quotes. Several insurers were over £100 cheaper if i ticked the mods box. The exhaust + filters/induction boxes seemed to provide the greatest discount. Weird.

Hence i now feel obliged to carry out some modifications. RPI scoop and remus back boxes i reckon.

Interesting that the insurers thought that a modified car was a better risk than a standard one... :scratchhead:

Which insurance company is it, just interested as mine is due in August, Swiftcover have quoted £366.00 FC.

Good excuse to dabble with a few mods :)

60mm drop
GruppeM induction kit
Remus full system

:D

Well I think you could justify to the wife at least £100 on mods. £500 if you play the long game (i.e. the discount will continue in the future).

You must be very low risk as I asked about mods and they raised premium or said we won't insure at all - this was for arb upgrade , will ring them on this matter as I want to get arbs , sports exhausts and air filter asap .

Did a quote with Admiral the other day on a Z4MC, to my surprise it was £130 cheaper to select street over garage and driveway was about £60 cheaper than garage. Really really don't get that.

Quite a few of them actually. I just fired off a with-mods and without-mods quote on one of the internet aggregators. I got one really cheap without-mods quote (<£500) but that was with a £1000 excess and a gps-spy box fitted. All the other without-mods quotes were over £700. There were half a dozen around £600 with mods (this is including legal cover and protected NCB which add about £100, and a minor fault claim last year).

its cos nowadays car theft happens with ppl breaking into your home to nab the keys..
if its on the street they cant be sure which house is yours...so less likely to break into a house only to find keys to a morris
hence the cheaper price
