So, my roofs finally died

Thank you I am just printing them all off now :D

On the maintenance pages, there are the guides on the right hand side, then the guides from when you did the job and documented it yourself. Does your 2 guides on the right cover everything I will need?

Just had a thorough read through and it all seems realy clear but as I have the use of a double garage for a week I will have time to stop work and pester you for answers/solutions on here if I get stuck, if thats ok with you?

Shipkiller is just installing his premium rate phone line now ... :D

Hi guys..

I also have a problem with my roof, but I'm not sure if it's due to a water damaged pump..

What do you guys make of these symptoms:

1. The pump can open or close the roof, but at a slower rate than normal
2. It looks like its struggling, and sometimes stops even although the pump is still going.
3. The pump is louder than normal and sounds like its straining even when the cut out is pulled.
4. If I don't help it manually, the pump finally gives up and cuts out for sometimes months at a time then magically comes on again
5. When manually closing the roof it feels pretty heavy.. Is this normal?

I wonder if the pump is just damaged, or if the fluid is low or contaminated, or worse still is there damage to the folding structure itself?
I'm quite keen to attempt a repair myself, so a better diagnosis could save the top going back on then off again.. Any comments appreciated..

"it's not a roof, it's an umbrella!"

gMoney, it sounds like your pump/motor is going out. Esp, for months.....

If your car is under warranty, time to give BMW a call. If you can swing a wrench, you can do it yourself...

The cost of a new pump from BMW is $550.00 US. Cheaper if you get it on line...

My two guides cover everything. The guides on the left of the page are the official BMW TIS procedures. I would print them also. You cannot have too much info...
