Today is rather a sad day for me: I sold my beautiful 2014 valencia orange 35is. I had it 4 years, and before that I had a 2009 23i for 4 years (which went briefly to Andy Argyle before he moved onto a G29).

Just a couple of issues in my ownership, both fixed under warranty - the adaptive front suspension failed and there was corrosion on the alloy roof.

I loved its looks, particularly the colour and the interior, the dual clutch gearbox and the effortless power the engine delivered. Yes, it wasn't as sharp on the curvy roads as my previous Honda S2000, but the e89 has proved to be a superior car in almost all respects (except possibly depreciation :rofl: )

You might see it on the Crossroads garage Sheffield website (it will be interesting to me to see what they put it up for) - they were the only real responder to my Autotrader advert. I guess people are not keen on spending high teens on a private sale.

The Z just wasnt getting enough use, and its an expensive car to be sat on the drive. The middle of summer wasn't great too, but we had a lovely weekend, driving it around the countryside here with the roof down, and enjoying the breeze. I had only done 1,500 miles this year.

Last poignant picture of it polished and ready to be picked up.... so long! I hope the next owner loves it as much as me :(

One final nail in the coffin, was just near you about 10 days ago, at the ringroad by Marldon, I got a speeding ticket from the most "hidden" camera I have (never) seen... :rofl: 65 in a 40 dual carriageway. Yes I know its wrong, but the picture is taken from the most obscure/far away position. I'm expecting more than a speed awareness course for that one..
 
I’m sure someone will fall in love and soon snap it up, it’s a lovely looking Zed, although with summer coming to an end they could have it on their forecourt for some time.
Are you planning on replacing it with anything else?

I bought a Range Rover Sport (I know, don't say anything!) earlier in the year. Its a bit of a diva, and needs attention (it started by waking me up every night around 2am!) - then a £1100 MOT. :x
Its a completely different car to the Z obviously (and like driving a powerful sofa!)... I'll see how long I can live without a sports car on the drive (its been about 12 years!, 2 s2000s, 2 Z4s) before deciding if those days are over... :D
 
1500 miles in a year, that is huge :lol:

Think that was 7 years in my Golf, this year only 300 in the Porsche and less than 1000 in my M.

I tend to use the ID.3 at the moment a lot as it is very nice to drive and also very cheap being elec.

And yes - I need to get out more. Not something I would say to you with the RR though with the associated risks :evil: :rofl:

Thanks - I appreciate the concern! I'm just waiting for the next inevitable large bill to come through. There's just too many common and expensive faults on these - it makes the e89 folding roof issues/costs seem like peanuts!. :rofl:
 
I know - I had a Discovery once upon a time, and even though it did not have breakdown issues, everything leaked every time and normal services where mortgage level size. I bought it at 3 years and sold it just over year later having spent about 50% of the value just to keep it on the road.

However, some friends have them and never had issues, so I guess if you have a rotten one it will be bad forever whilst a good one might be ok.

Waze is your friend to protect you, I could not drive in the UK without it now.

Yes, its just pot luck I feel. so far its been "better than I anticipated", but I do tend to fear the worst. Hence I had a BMW warranty on the Z due to the 35is common issues - however, there is nothing similar for RRS that is worth paying for!

If the crankshaft fails (as the TDv6 appear prone to) its just time to scrap it.
 
My neighbour pays £300 a month for his warranty, with the usual issues of claiming as it always seems to be something that is out of scope. He loves driving it though.

OMG, HOW MUCH?! I guess if its newish, then its (possibly) worth it. I'm a bit more at the cheap end of the market and its mostly just stroking it and talking to it nicely.. hoping to flatter it into not going (expensively) wrong :rofl: :thumbsup:
 
His is 7 years old now (or perhaps even more, time flies and he has a private plate - guess it is easier to quote during a phone call :poke: ). He bought it from the royal household so it has a few interesting features inside.

He has never broken down, but has had quite a few turbo failures, suspension issues etc. Within a week of ownership mice had eaten through his wireloom so that was a great start for him.

Very unlucky. The police have been out there on foot with cameras for a few weeks now on and off. I didn't realise that it was only 40mph oops!

just between 5 lanes and the old smokey roundabout... I'm hoping they are nice to me because its technically a dual carriageway.
 
Sold an identical car just over a year ago to a garage in London and they put it up for sale with £6K profit and it went with 3 days.

As you say its a great looking car and gave me immense pleasure for the 7 years I owned mine. Just got a bit scared of a potential high cost if anything went wrong.

Maybe when you get bored with your sofa on wheels you'll be back, but good luck with it anyway! :thumbsup:
