Just rung my insurers, LV, to change the reg number over to the new one. All done & no charge (surprise, surprise) but before she put the phone down the girl asked if the car had a tracker fitted - which it hasn't and I told her so. She then informed me that the car isn't insured for theft unless it has one fitted! No mention of it whatsoever when I took out the policy in Sept. I've never even heard of such a thing before, load the pilicy yes but to just refuse theft cover because it's not got one seems just plain daft.
I took the policy out in Sept last year by ringing them, (not online) and all the relevent questions were asked then, including: has it got a tracker fitted - no. Does it have an alarm / immobilser fitted - yes, etc etc. At no point was it mentioned that I''d have to have a tracker fitted in order to be insured for theft. I've not pursued it yet as I wanted to check my policy shedule etc to see if there's any mention of it - and there isn't so they'll be getting a call back when I have the time
Theres' no point in me having fully comp insurance then really is there if that's the case? Next time I'll just insure it third party and f*ck them! I hate insurance companies they're nothing but legalised thieves who make the rules up as they go along.
