So I picked up my new car yesterday

Congratulations on the purchase - that's a nice looking car  .

About the DSC / DTC issue; I've just had a quick look in the handbook. It's definitely a good idea to leave the DSC on. But the book says the following about the DTC:

"DTC is a traction-optimised version of DSC intended for use in special circumstances, such as roads covered by deep snow. Under these circumstancesthe system ensures maximum forward traction, but at a certain cost in terms of stability. Consequently, you must exercise suitable caution when driving under these conditions.

"In the following exceptional situations it may be best to activate DTC for a short time:

i. When driving uphill on snow-covered roads, in slush or on unploughed, snow-covered roads.
ii. If the car has to be rocked out of or started in deep snow or on a loose surface.
iii. If snow chains are fitted."

So, contrary to what I thought, it seems that DTC should normally be switched off. Hope this helps

from the key in the door or by pressing the remote ? I thought you could only get it to go down remotely, and up with the key in the door

Nope, it's all done from the remote, up and down, no keys in door, I press and hold open button, roof comes down, press and hold lock button, roof closes :D

Thanks for all the advice on the DTC, I'm going to leave it switched on. Although one guys post was interesting when he quoted from the manual about switching DTC on in the snow.

Yep the titles can be a bit confusing, but I suppose the easiest way to remember is that the car defaults to its "safest" settings every time the ignition is turned on, therefore if you don't press the DTC button (short or long press) then you'll always have the default levels of safety available. Have a read of these...
