So, I bought a Zed..

After the wife got a new job which meant she needed the car (320d touring) we needed a second car again. So I hunted around a bit and found an 03 2.5i se spec z4 with 40k on the clock for £6k with FSH and mostly BMW. it was up for 6.5k but I got him to £6k due to the wheels (picture further down) which I think was a fair price.

I'm not into modding but I do like to know roughly about what I'm buying which lead me to this forum. I've had my Z4 for two weeks now and I love it! I used to really really miss my mk4 Golf GTI 1.8t ever since I sold it a couple of years back but now........ I'm not even looking back! I've not changed much, I've had a Parrot 9100 fitted for the phone and music which is great, and I then discovered Gaptech..
So I fitted the RCH+ module, which having not tinkered with anything on a car before done first time and walked away from the car (remotely closing the hood) with a massive Clarkson style smug grin! :D

So I had her valeted externally yesterday, fella came to the house and done a stirling job, even if it did honk it down straight after and didn't really stop! This morning got up to walk the dog, to steam literally coming off the hood in the sunshine, which I wish I'd got some snaps of on my SLR as it was like dry ice, mega!

Anyway Day off today so thought I'd go for a little drive and stopped to take some pics, they are from my iPhone, so not the greatest of quality but here she is.

The inside and outside really is mint not a mark, all the leather is tip top, and the engine bay is really clean! I'm not so keen on the gimp style wind deflector which obviously isn't on in the pics, but the side covers make everything nice and neat when the hood is down. Just a pain in the arse to fit.
The only bad point really are the wheels, they aren't really curbed at all, but it's as if the fronts of them (all) have oxidised on the laquer. any thought on what to do? As in get them sprayed/refurbed? costings? I love the look black inside and laser cut on the out, but not quite too sure what to do.

Looks lovely and such a great colour in bright sunshine. Welcome to the forum.
IMO spend that saved cash on a set of CSL rep wheels and decent non-runflat rubber, head for the sunshine and never look back :driving:

I have read that the ride is much better without run flats. The alloys would take some convincing from the wife as she might notice that it'd have different alloys on! :D but something to definitely look into. the only thing I wouldn't mind is a clear wind deflector as I really don't like the gimp one (awful to fit too) but I can't believe how much the gimp ones go for on ebay! or those little plastic side covers!!! but I'll def be keeping the covers! And also some good floor mats as the ones that are in there really look pants!

Well said +1and welcome along

thank you very much gents! Have to admit the gap tech RCH+ module, did make me feel like I was in transformers when I went to B&Q this morning! lol

Looks great. Problem with those M3 wheels is unless you have them powered coated (which will remove the chrome finish) they cost a little bit more to refurb as they are diamond cut or chromed I think. But they don't look OEM as the are single dish on the rear, proper M3 wheels are double dish on the rear.

Would be better buying some new ones as if they are 19" then your looking at £80 a wheel for diamond cutting and £90 a for re-chroming a wheel and £450 will buy some rep CSLs

I also echo Inkeys buy some standard rubber it will transform the car.

But it's not a major nag, could wait.

Hi and welcome, car looks great.Mr Wilks always has great wheels for sale or Bing has a nice set of 108s for sale

Lovely looking zed, but the wheels need to go my friend. I would be looking at some 224's, 108's or CSL style all would really suit your zed

I am swinging on new wheels, I have however promised the wife, landscaping the garden, some more sonos bits in the house, a shed (so the zed can go in the garage!) and I need to pay for my carp fishing holiday to France! But once that's done I think it's a going to be the csl alloys in black for a bit of a stealthy look.
I've had a little trawl on eBay for a stubby, has anyone got an idea on which one fits perfectly without making reception crap?

Or maybe just maybe use your imagination and choose a different style :poke:

The oem style 107 wheels look the best on your car IMHO. They are period correct when your car becomes a classic collector in the future.

Hey, Looks very clean i must say.
snap with the wheels, mine were not genuine so i got some nice propper bmw staggered wheels . they will make a difference.
