I have just seen this and thought how lucky I am not to have to be driving around London during the Olympics.

Fined if you drive in the bus lane, Fined if you drive in the Olympic lane...eeerrrr where do I go :headbang:

I'm so glad Paris lost to London...

There is a ring road around Paris (like most capital cities i imagine), which is around 35 km long. For the Paris 2012 project, one lane in each direction would have permanently reserved for Olympics traffic. It's already one of the most congested road in Europe (in ze woooorld...), it would have been a complete nightmare.

My vote goes to Paris, but lets face it, Europe can't afford the Olympics, how about India, their loaded and the roads are madness already so no one would notice. :D

All the athletes would be killed! If not by vehicles coming the wrong way down the road than by the free roaming animals running the streets!

I take my last business trips to London (by train) this Friday and the following Wednesday, then I'm done until September.

Client meetings will be in Birmingham or any other European city as I'm not going to waste my time trying to move around, or ripped of by hotels at hiked up rates.

Or they'd all get Delhi belly and be stuck on the loo rather than competing

Managed to ensure I'm working in Moscow and Antwerp this summer, and flying out from "anywhere but Heathrow" !

I don't get it?? Why have an Olymic lane when there is a bus lane they can use???

I'm dreading it! Can't wait until it's all over! It's not even something I enjoy watching!! At least if it was Euro's or The World Cup!!!

I have to go through London on Thursday, then that's me till end of August / Sept. Just not wanting to do it.

....or at least that's what I thought, till I realised that the bid that is currently wrecking my life requires delivered by hand to an office in Fleet Street, on the 3rd of feckin' August :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Should be fun journey...

I'm staying well away from the centre, hate Central London traffic as it is :headbang: Happy to be on the outskirts. Although bit worried as I am near Heathrow..

I won't be driving all the way in - I will be on public transport from Canada Water. Jubilee Line = nightmare. Buses - they are the way ahead
