I have decided to sell my Z4, its been a bit up and down and with a 10 year old car im starting to experience issues (that i'd expect) but want to stop throwing money at it.

I've decided to migrate over to an Audi so wondering if any of you guys can reccomend me a good UK forum as im struggling

yep:
www.audipartsdirect.co.uk ;-)
If you thought your BMW was having issues, good luck :-) What Audi did you buy anyway?

Cheers guys.

As for the Audi compared to BMW issues are concerned I sorta expected that sort of comment and the Z is not the only BMW I have owned and can truthfully say the road has been rocky at times. So I feel a change is as good as a rest.

I have plumbed for the 1.8 TFSI S Linein Misano Red on a 58 plate

I have had the same rocky road as you and had to part company with my zed but I don't regret one minute of my zed experience. Had some great moments and some very disappointing ones. Gone back to Japanese motoring but a TT was definitely on my list.

Good luck, I've had a few Audi's and they are a nice place to be.

If my Coupe starts to develop issues I won't hesitate to go test a TTRS / S5

Good chance to come out of the closet :? I have been mooching around the TT idea for a while 8)
They do offer great looks, decent performance & prices are dropping like a stone :o
I would be after a MK1 such as
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307207914225/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/4000/price-from/3000/model/tt/make/audi/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/postcode/bb120hr/page/1/quicksearch/true/radius/40?logcode=p

As for the BMW "issues" mentioned above ? recent years ive had 520d , Z4c,330d , current X3 all 7/8 yrs old & min 90k covered with only very small repairs like rear springs, coil pack etc , ( we won,t include the 645 in this ! Lol) , , ,
i get the feeling though if the Audi,s play up the bill,s may be bigger & possibly more regular ??

Let us know how things go & don,t forget the pics

I researched the BMW, TT and others before opting for the Z4 and whilst any car of this age will develop problems I was surprised at the engine failures the Turbo Audi unit suffers, and how few with the BMW six-pot. TT's throwing cam belts and the infamous MK1 instrument pod failures (£1k) get regular mentions.
On second thoughts I shouldn't have been surprised by the VW/Audi engines giving out, I had two replaced in a low mileage Golf and haven't had a VAG since

I like the late TT,it looks a good thing..

Please be careful with the 1.8 TFSI engine, they are a pig and are currently a hot potato in the automotive world..

The TFSI commonly throws its timing chain off,and consequently destroys the engine.. They also use oil like a drunk sups ale,and oil pumps disintergrating and bad oil pressure is common..

They are a bad design, but nothing can be done now as there in so many cars.....VAG group deny any problems (of course).... But try to make sure that at least the car has had modded timing chain and tensioners... There is no set mileage or preventative maintanance to prevent any problems,my friends VRS threw the chain at 19k and he had a £3000 bill to contend with..:(

Cheers guys been looking at the oil drinking issue and seems to be more on the 2.0 and oil burners but its deffo on my radar. Dont plan to leave the site so will post some pics when I pick it up on Wed and post.

Thought about the TT but the one I test drove (bit girly image) :) in the wet made me think about the scooby I used to own and its tendancy to oversteer like a bitch, whilst I sorted that with the usual gubbins im looking to not throw money at the car this time(finance prevails) and keep fairly stock.

Im a stckler with services but just got the general feeling I was paying hand over fist on the Z as it was 10 years old and decided time for the change

Over here in Oz, VWs and I believe Audis that use DSG gearboxes have come in for severe concern ... even after a manufacturer recall ... with hundreds of people reporting problems with their cars simply losing power on highways. This became a big issue after a VW car (without DSG) was crushed on a freeway by a truck behind it, after the car lost engine power on the freeway. Sometimes, the issue has been caused by the DSG gearboxes ... other times, it has affected cars that do not even have DSG boxes ... and sometimes cars that have the latest DSG boxes that supposedly 'fix' this issue. All very scary. When you read the stories of what people have been experiencing in Australia ... and the recalls in other countries ... it is not a brand I would want to be driving around in at the moment.
