drove to work this morning, light dusting of snow, nothing major...sat at my office desk, docked the laptop and saw the first flake drop...that was three hours ago.

I now can't see up the road from the office, its just a bit white blur

Getting out of the carpark at work tonight should be fun then... :thumbsdown:

Well wifey is getting seriously snowed in over in mid-Wales, but like CJ, Oxfordshire has hardly seen a flake - boring. Still, thats all set to change at 6pm allegedly!!

Ah - all change this morning. we have a full 1/16th of an inch of snow. It almost obscured the grit surfaace of the road - then it went. Still prediction is 6" later so we shall see.

We're getting about 4" of fluffy powder today, equivalent to about 1" of your wet stuff. Either way the roads were shi**y and visibility was crap this morning with it all blowing around.

Got an X5 covered in about a cm of salt, came back from the continent in it and drove 400 miles on two tracks cleared on the slow lane of the motorway. Painful progress ...

Took me 15 minutes to clear the drive. On the main road in this morning I was the only non-4x4! Not entirely true, there were a few abandoned FWD cars. This is a shot from the easy bit.

After the drive in it took me 30 minutes to dig out a hole in the office car park! Hardcore mountaineering Demon Escape shovel!

Good news is, I can drive in my snowboard boots! Snowboard on the passenger seat in case I got stuck on a hill and needed to pass the time.

Yes, the Rangey did get stuck and need a push... HA!

Anyone want to buy a Z4... only ever used in the summer :roll:

Good news is, I can drive in my snowboard boots! Snowboard on the passenger seat in case I got stuck on a hill and needed to pass the time.

Off-topic (kind of), but what's the biggest length of board you think will fit in the passenger seat? I've literally just started snowboard tuition and was using a 165cm board (I'm 6'1 / 185cm) at the local Xscape - would be nice if a board would fit in the Z4, avoid having to use the van!

Ha! I seem to attract it... surfboard and mountain bike transport posts in the past!

Mine's a 161, have it in a Dakine gig bag to save the seats - the edges have cut my clothing / luggage in the past! This is how it fits...

Could take a longer board if I reclined the seats.

The worst I've had in the last 20 years is my first car stolen (a 1.0L Metro), and a hammered quarter-glass on one of my M5s (luckily it had privacy film on it so they couldn't get in, and deadlocks & immobiliser so they couldn't drive it either).

That's good to know what fits, although I still don't know if that's the board length I'll stick with: I've only had 6hrs of tuition, starting from scratch, and am hiring the kit. I'll buy sometime this year though. A couple of MTBing mates are boarders and encouraged me to give it a go, loving it! I've been doing it at Xscape in Glasgow, nice big indoor slope and just reached a level where they'll let me loose on the slope myself as I can. I'm in control most of the time... sort of like my mountain-biking skills then
