Snow Socks

Anyone tried them on a Z?

Winter Tyres should be here tomorrow anyway but this would be worst case scenario. I work at the bottom of a steep hill and mh Z4m is my daily. My mates 3 series struggles every year.

Prepare for damage! Just pop some bubble wrap round your motor.

x3

I was thinking about getting some as i tend to have to do a lot of touring round christmas. all the reviews i've read seem to be quite favorable

They obviously arent snow chains but good enough to get you out of untreated side streets.

The problem of snow socks is that they have to be taken off as soon as the road is clear of snow. Otherwise they will be worn out more quickly.

Used them last year to get out of tight spot coming home from work in the early hours. A right pain to get on if you've 18" wheels, but they do work! Wasn't convinced they were on properly, and had visions of them flying off, but they seemed to self-centre on the wheel after a few revolutions And yes, you do need to take them off once you hit tarmac, but that's a simple job compared to putting them on .

For £60, good insurance policy I would say.

I looked at them, but bought a proper set of snow chains in the end but that was 7 times the price though.

Supposedly good at what they do, but a complete faff in the same way as snow chains are. Better off with winter tyres that you don't have to fit/remove between patches of snow and cleared tarmac. It's very rare in the UK that surfaces are completely snow-covered, so you spend more time fitting/removing the socks/chains than you do driving
