Snow Foaming

Two bucket method is merely to reduce the amount of dirt you rub back into your car.

Snowfoam should help take the top layer of muck off.

I generally only use snow foam when the car is fairly dirty or dusty but will always two bucket wash

Sorry badly phrased. I, too, always use the 2-bucket method when washing for precisely the reason you say. I was just wondering if the extra expense of buying a snow-foam lance and snow foam and the extra time for snow-foaming, in addition to 2-bucket washing was worth it.

Has anyone tried pre-washing products instead of snow foaming?

x2 for Citrus Pre-Wash. No need for a snow foam lance / pressure washer either. Just get yourself a garden sprayer.

Should always be careful using pressure washers to clean, if they catch a stone chip at an odd angle it could do serious damage.

Thanks for the answers. My missus is amazed, I've cleaned my Z4 more times since I got it at the beginning of May than I cleaned my previous cars put together since we got married 8 years ago.

I'd never even heard of the 2-bucket method before I read about it here, so any advice on pre-washing, foaming or general tips is most welcome.

I use both a Valet Pro citrus prewash and a AD Magifoam snow foam, i apply the citrus prewash to lower areas of the car then i cover that and remaining areas in snowfoam and leave for 5 mins before rinsing off.

I find it gets rid of alot of muck that otherwise would be dragged across the car.

Maybe its overkill im not sure, but having a black car that shows every mark and swirl i try and do all i can to prevent them re appearing.

Citrus prewash is a great prodcut though and this is what i used to use soley before investing in a snowfoam lance etc.

Thanks for the info. Which foam lance do you use?

I thought snow foam was a pre wash :s
I use it and find that it takes off the bulk of the dirt and it really softens what it leaves behind.

I got the Autobrite Direct Snow foam lance and foam deal. I think it worked out at £35 delivered a few months ago, it is an very well made lance and delivery was quick as well. I think the deal was on detailing world or there Facebook page.

Thanks

Thats the deal i got, if you email them they will confirm its still on :)

You will need a decent pressure washer to get good foam though. I ended up buying a new one as my old Karcher didn't pass muster. I bought a Nilfisk E130 which works well.

If I were you I would just get the Citrus pre wash and a garden sprayer. IF this isn't doing what you want then look at foam, but I don't rate it that much.

Not sure what the cirtus does to your LSP though. I have Wolf's BodyWrap which can only be removed by mechanical methods basically, so I can through Tardis, Iron-X, and anything else at it without stripping.
