snow foam

I use Snow foam and do doubt the benefits of using it.

I cant say that i think it cleans the car any better, but it make a good mess on the drive way.

kit and 5L Snow foam about £55, cant say i would recommend it to anybody.

Mine has a 20 min dwell time, but a little sunshine causes it to dry on the windows and paint work.

As i said, not sure that the extra effort is worth it as it does not dispense with any of the washing processes. Still need pressure washer, wash mitt, shampoo etc, etc.

That just my opinion.

Looks good, but thats it.

Dario - I only use it in the winter to get more initial rubbish of the car before going through the normal process.

That way, I feel that the biggest amount of salt and other dirt is removed before I continue to wash the car and especially in the winter, when your hands are freezing, I would not want have the risk that my quicker washing methods could potentially scratch the paintwork.

I see no real use for it during the summer months though and never use it then.

I hear ya PVR.

Strangely, just got back from a weekend in the kent countryside with this awefull weather and when i got home i was happy to power wash, snow foam and then rinse it off at the appropriate time. almost winter, but plenty of mud and $hit on the car. it made me feel better afterwards anyhow!

You will be amazed at the difference that lance makes. I've made that same change having thought what a pile of poo snowfoam was with the karcher lance and now neighbours stop and gawp at it going onto the car

With the new lance what ratio do you use?

2 - 2.5 cm of pure in the bottle, the rest warm water (up to about 75% of the bottle).

Note - warm water.

No point filling the bottle up completely as you won't use it.

I am very grateful that my neighbours can not see me ... can you imagine, show foam, destilled water, car blow dryer, special car vacuum cleaner

You shouldn't be using a 50/50 mix!!! That's WAY too strong and will more than likely be either taking off ALL your protective work or doing naff all. You only need the slightest amount, maybe only 25-30mm in the bottom of the bottle, fill the rest up with water and cover that way. There are too many ridiculous pictures of people making their black cars white because of it - that's WAY too much and too thick.

The quality of foam is massively dependant on the type you use. I use AMDetail Foam and it gives excellent results.

I agree. Way too much. I use around 2 inches of the stuff, and it's plenty with good coverage.

Sorry, disagree. 2 inches and I get no foaming whatsoever (and yes, I am only talking about washing the car :)) due to the hardness of the water. I gradually added more until I got a mix that covers well, and takes the grit off - and that's about 50/50. And no, it doesn't strip everything off (apart from the dirt). I use a decent brand of snow foam, Bosch pressure washer and a proper snow foam lance, wax every 3 months... and think the car looks half decent for an 8 year old.

Blimey .... I've not even got a hosepipe anymore that's long enough let alone a pressure washer but was considering it for my dad...

How does the bottle work... I would venture a guess it's a simple Venturi effect where the passing water flow sucks the mixture into the stream of water and some sort of sheer/cavitation effect makes the foam as it exits the nozzle. That and the actual mixture is heavy witch surfactant.

From what read I got the impression you leave it on for 2-5 mins not 20

i wonder how good this one is as it claims to clip onto a hoze

so which foam do people recomend?

I have the Autobrite snowfoam. Foams as per my posted picture so I am happy with that.

Wire filters? .... How many? This makes sence on how it produces foam then..... Same way I used to make different size silica
